This is a subject that brings out a lot of emotion from people. Yes people get fired up, and understandably so. This is a time that all the victims will need support. Just curios as to why there was reference made to the fact that there were 1000 texts from both sides???? How is that relevant to what everyone is talking about? I don't think you meant it the way it came off.

Math matters when making an statement. 1000 on a one sided conversation is different than 500 two way talk.
Keeping it perspective is my guess. Which is why most of use who have seen or been around this track lay back and watch.
A lot of information can be slanted, or blown out of proportion. Let's not guess, work the problem.

To the ones that seem to be insinuating that it takes two, it shouldn't matter how many text messages were sent from the victim in this situation. If it were your daughter participating in text messages with a man that is almost 40 years old you would be ok with that? I don't think so.

Let me attempt to be clear.
At no point have I defended or convicted the accused.
Facts matter, when you exaggerate facts you loose credibility in a discussion.
I am always skeptical of what I read, reporters need to sell stories and papers.
Some people even have agendas, or axes to grind, or be misinformed.
Also as I have stated before, court is a whole different ball game.
With that said, I believe pedifiles and those who prey on children should have their parts cut off, shoved in their mouths and shot in the head.
If there were 99 innocent people and a man who preyed and succeeded with my dd in a gas chamber room I would gas them all, and call it collateral damage.
Now then,,,before the above action can take place, it must be proved with out reasonable doubt.

BUT...Hare is the same sort of "moron" that long ago led us out of the dark ages and to a basis for our justice system (however flawed that it is) today.

#1 Social media is just as bad. In September I set up social media sites for my 14u. She never got a chance to use it. We did everything together. Requested some friends. Followed some of her favorite athletes, coaches and artists. After about 3 months she began getting requests. So as a experiment I started to approve them randomly and monitoring it. As of last week she has close to 700 friends and followers. She has also received over 70 private messages. Ages range from 15 to 60 year old males. From a D-1 collegiate basketball player, minor league baseball player and 60 year old accountant. From other states, countries and as close as 5 miles away. It is everywhere. She calls them creepers. I have my own choice words. So all sites have been shut down. Hers, mine, my wife's and everyone in my family. Until Facebook, instagram, snap chat and all these other sites can regulate who can contact a minor no one in my house will support them.

#2 When we were in rec ball the league had a board of directors, policies & procedures and a strict code of conduct. Back ground checks as well as people who monitored everything. I took a winterball team and had to sign more papers than when I bought my house. Travel ball has really no governing body. Any yahoo can take a team. I don't understand how some of these teams operate with out any written code of conduct or policy. I was told that some of theses big organizations are incorporated. I assume that just like any other business there is a level of liability. They are being paid a membership fee for a service and should take steps to monitor these kind of actions. Too be honest I'm not too sure how they operate. Whether these teams are franchised or operate under a specific umbrella. Just seems logical to go above and beyond to protect the kids.

What makes you think all of that wasn't done?

No one has a background until they are caught and prosecuted for the first time. Background checks only point out those that aren't smart enough to avoid detection, so far.
