I read it yesterday. Was there something specific in the article that led you to that conclusion?

The article states:

"She plays on two different, top-notch traveling teams.........“We practice five days a week and keep getting better,”............ “She’s very athletic and she works all year round. You can tell the girls who do that, and she pitches just about every day.”

Very good - these are all valid points for concern and pointing them out is much more informative than "Read this."

I'm obviously speculating but at least the way this article is written it appears this girl has a fire in her belly to get better. All the great one do. She doesn't appear to be being pushed. So I think the chances for burn out may be less because it appears she wants to do it versus mommy and/or Daddy pushing her.

Course with all that activity, she could certainly blow something out. But what I read is this is a girl with a goal and some talent. I wouldn't count her out.

Impressive, regardless of concerns about her ability to withstand a rigorous practice/lesson/playing schedule. Rest once in a while can't hurt. Hope to see her pitch some day.

Bingo! Overuse injuries are the issue, not burn out. We've seen too many 12U phenoms' sotball careers curtailed by overuse injuries. The damage often starts at this young age, even though symptoms may not appear until a couple years later.

Parents are responsible for looking out for their kid's long term health. They can't neglect it by getting caught up with how "important" it is to win some games and a tourney that will be replaced by more games and another tourney the next week.

Yep! Great points! I think she should quit now since she is on a path of self destruction. I just don't know how the player/parents have survived this long. It's really amazing when you think about it.

Probably depends what she is throwing. IMO a steady diet of fastballs with some changeups will be less of an issue if she is an "8" pitch pitcher

The Master of the Moronic Strawman hath spoken. All hail Battle.... Knower of Nothing, Icon of Idiocy, and the Prince of Nonsense.

Here is a person so stupid, so blinded by the water cooler mentality, that they would knowingly recommend an approach which has an increasing probality that one's DD will be injured and might possibly lose the ability to play the game.

Nobody ever suffered an overuse injury from taking time off.

I await the next strawman from the Mensa of Mindlessness.

Parent stating you will get the business.

OnDeck stating it, that is different.

As far as repetive use injuries. They are real. i have found good crossfit. And a continous level of pitching, not crazy lots each night, but a number of nights a week. You should take a few weeks off, typically you will actually find your speed go up after a break.

When you come back from a break ease back into things. I see a lot of pitchers that take 6 weeks off, their first time back to pitching is a all weekend 7 game tournament. That is not going to end well. Days of rest between games take some time and loosen up your arm, throw 20 or 30 pitches.

Does it matter? Isn't 66mph the same at both distances? LOL!
