What's on your mind?

When she goes to college to play softball, chances are she will have to change her number.

Hi everyone! Wow, can't believe this thread turned out to have such a shelf life! Since people seem to be interested, all said and done, DD stayed with team. After reading all of your opinions, thinking it over, and laughing hysterically at some of the responses, it seems our focus was turned to watching this thread more than worry about the number. It was good to see that some may have disagreed with us, but more importantly, other's shared our general opinion so our hurt feelings were somewhat validated. DD chose to stay on the team, so nothing more was said to anyone else on the team (just to a couple of non-softball friends). The young lady that took over DDs number ended up being very nice (we never expected otherwise, this wasn't about the other player)and is now a good friend of DDs. DD pitched for the team throughout the season and by fall tryouts decided she wanted to continue to play for the team in 2009, so she obviously has put the issue behind her. She still makes a face whenever her number comes up, but she's never said a thing about it to the new friend who has the number, and the girl has never said anything to her. The issue was never as much about the number itself as it was about how the situation was handled by the coach. In the end she obviously values the new friendship with the girl more than the relationship with the coach or the number. On goes the ups and downs of being a 13 year old! And in the end, it was her decision on whether or not she chose to leave or stay. I think she made a good one.

That's great news but what about the pole barn? Do you guys still get to use it? How about a picture?

The fact that some people share your opinion in no way validates it. If you said the earth was flat plenty of people would agree. Doesn't make it true.

That said, thank you for the most entertaining thread in the history of this site.

okay, i no its all been said but i am new to this post. The mom encouraged this fight. Remember she said it at the first team meeting. Instead of difusing the situation she made it wors. The daughter reacted to mom. My daughter was in the same situation BUT they were both pitchers. She loves Tori Hunter and thought how cool, now not only have I had Vlad/Jenny Finch's # but also Tori. Who owns a friggin # anyway? People are ridiculous.

The coach should make them both change numbers.

I know fighting over a number is silly but what other favors is this kid going to get?

So where would this discussion have gone if it was the pole barn player who did not get to have the number, and was thinking about leaving the team and taking her pole barn and any other contributions with her?

Would she be right, or would she get ripped the way Pichermom was?
