I loved that game in HS. We also called it bombardiment and used the complete length of the gym to hurl playground balls at out opponents.

Don't you think that Pres. Bush would have been pretty good at that game? Boy, he moves pretty good for a guy my age. Amy

I saw that this morning and just about woke the whole house up laughing and thinking the SAME exact thing. I think he finally found one thing he is good at, dodging shoes!!!

I never saw that game until I was grown but then I went to catholic schools most of the time and we just had fist fights at recess.

Hasn't President Bush has been playing dodge ball for about 6 1/2 years...but not so successfully as he was with the shoes. :(

My favorite "sport" of all time! And a pretty cheesy, funny movie too.

DD still plays it in athletics when they just want to have a fun day. Coach says she has to seperate the softball/baseball players though. She said it's fun to see the ball players try to kill each other.

I don't think that we had Butts Up in the midwest. I researched and found this - http://www.uncommonsportsman.com/2008/5 ... 4/butts-up

Yeah, we played way back when I was in school. I didn't have the best arm by far, but I could catch fairly well, so I did OK.

Did anyone play the football game with the politically correct name of "Pitch up and tackle". I won't post the name we called it back then, times have changed since the late 70's/early 80's. It was a blast. Heck, we even played it in the gym when we couldn't go outside for the weather...I remember getting tackled in the gym one day in 5th or 6th grade, with one boy around my ankles and one on my back with his arms wrapped around me, and busting my head wide open right above my eye.

Good times.
Proud fastpitch, baseball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, etc. Dad :)
