Nike Softball Camp - for the love of the game

My DD just got back from her 4th year of Nike Camp with Debbie Nelson. What a wonderful experience. The girls are divided by age and skill and learn something new every year no matter what experience level they are. Unlike College ID camps, the girls are not in competition with each other and play together as teammates. It is refreshing to have an all female staff coaching the girls, and they are all returning coaches each year. The coaches enthusiasm and love of the game is contagious with the girls. My DD claims Reno camp is always the best week of the summer. She can't wait to go back next year.

I think the point is that there are no "college coaches".

Guessing that it would have been 10 - 12 years ago (???) that DDs went to a Nike softball camp. Just started travel ball and obvious that there was some catching up to do. Had no clue about showcases, emailing coaches ... college scholarship? What's that? Just some ballplayers teaching because they liked teaching younger girls. At that time it was very inexpensive, I think $40 a day.

It was actually a camp with the purpose of teaching skills. What a concept, huh?

Don't know if it is still the same - probably not - but maybe/hopefully it is still possible for girls to just go to a camp and work on skills with wondering which coaches are watching.

It is a skills camp, but the coaches teach to your skill level. My DD has gone to many College ID camps, but they are to show off your skills, not to learn anything new.

The cost was around $500 for five days including meals and lodging.
