Unwritten Hey Bucket Rules

What's on your mind?

by fastpitch7 » Wed Dec 10, 2008 6:06 pm

Not sure if this is an unwritten rule or not:
use this forum as a way to promote the game and help others without as much experience or wisdom.

what I like about this site is people don't get slammed for not knowing everything there is to know about softball or not living in CA the softball king of the world. So those of us that are fairly new (2009 will be DD 2nd yr of travel) to travel can gain from others experience and wisdom.

Unlike other sites (not mentioned ;) where you get slammed for asking "stupid" questions everyone should know.

[quote="Killer Rabbit"]What are some of the Hey Bucket unwritten rules that you've noticed?
quote]

Parents and new Coaches:
Beating a top team in a friendly doesnt make your team a top team. The matchups in friendlies rarely are optimal. Enjoy the win as progress with your girls but dont fill thier heads with visions of grandeur. Keep it in perspective. Thier is always room for improvement no matter who you are. :)
The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure.
These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.

Don't come on Hey Bucket and suggest that if your dd doesn't get her "number" you are going to pull her from the team.

(Already mentioned) Don't discount the pole barn. It should be mandatory for membership to be able to define 4 basic advantages of the pole barn to your' dd's softball team.

Don't tell us that locating fastballs up, down, in and out account for "different pitches."

Don't read all of the BS on Hey Bucket and think that your dd is now behind. Heck, most of the posters here exaggerate some. I'm the only poster that doesn't and that's because my dd has 37 pitches, never makes outs and has started on our school's varsity since she was in first grade.

Don't think that posting habits actually relate to the actually real world person. Some of the posters here that take on that air of invincibility are really guys that are 5' tall and haven't started shaving yet despite the fact that they are 50+ years old. Some of the Moms might seem sweet here but when their dd steps to the plate, be sure that they want her to hit a line drive that will decapitate your dd.

[quote="hotwheels"]Don't brag about YOUR OWN team being better than other teams, it makes you look like a stupid a _ _.....Remember, if you're good......You don't need to tell anybody....We can see it........

You forgot to say how fast your DD pitches. You go first and then I'll post how fast my DD pitches, which will be at least 5 mph faster despite the fact that I posted my DD pitches 20 mph slower than that on a different thread yesterday (yup, she picked up that much speed in less than 24 hrs). BTW, she has 45 pitches.

Speaking of pitchers, don't post pictures of other people's DD to ask if she crow hops, leaps or is any way pitching illegally without at least cropping it so all we see are feet or whatever is allegedly illegal.

dustyshoes, and so my point! Besides, your dd started on varsity during kindergarten. Who can keep up with that?

Do we really want to start sifting through pages of tryout ads in the general fastpitch discussion board? This site will become eteamz if we don't adhere to this.
