Blind Squirrel, Donnie S & Watcher - Class of 2009

What's on your mind?

by Blind Squirrel » Sun Jun 09, 2013 10:24 am

I appreciate the kind words. Thank you.

The first reason I posted the link was to make fun of my kid. My wife and I immediately started laughing when we saw that clip the morning after that game. Could she have not at least tried to go "stiff upper lip"? (actually she did - she was trying not to cry) And note to Sami: How about not using the word "sucks" so much when you're answering a question in front of the media. That was the object of my sarcastic comment about her eloquence.

The second reason I posted that was because this kind of stuff is all I've ever been able to contribute to this board. Experience. I got nothing else. I don't know crap about hitting, pitching, the intricacies of the game. I never liked baseball when I was a kid. Hell for me would be either continuously watching baseball games or driving in Tokyo during rush hour on National Women Must Work Day. I wanted to give a stark view of the end game for kids. But another part of that end game is what I talked with her about last night. She said she woke up the next day going "Oh sh*t. What am I going to do with no softball?" Since then, day by day, she is increasingly glad it's over and is excited about being able to focus on paramedic training. I would like her to coach young kids, to give back to the game, to show gratitude to all the coaches who helped her along the way. We'll see.

Would like to spend the time to make this post better but I have to go move freaking office furniture. Wow.

You have given so much to this community it cant be adequately measured.

As for the offspring, her candid demeanor and vocabulary was awesome. It put front and center her fierce competitiveness. It was refreshing to see an athlete speak from the heart and not from a cheat sheet of cliches.

I hope coaching is something she would like to do. The girls who found themselves on a team she coached would be incredibly fortunate.

Many thanks.

Need to post at least 3 more times!!!
I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words.

I'll ask my wife and get back to you.

Actually, I'm in a bit of a rush but I'll be in a hotel tonight and if I have a connection I'll try to come up with a more thoughtful response.

That literally made me spit my drink out!

I was just thinking of my dd, who had her first High School sports banquet a few weeks ago. Her coach was talking about the season and the girls, and she was standing up in front of everyone, with a look on her face like she had just been chosen for the Hunger Games competition.

I know this is my fault. To this day, I am terrible about standing up in front of people, and having to try and explain something. I never had trouble playing sports in front of people, but the speaking thing gets me every time.

Not alot to add, other than I enjoyed watching some of your dd's play. You guys are truly blessed to have such kids, really.

GI2.6 I really appreciate the slapping discussions that we have had, and you taking the time to do so. It was beneficial to my dd, and has paid off in great ways; so from her and I, thank you.

Hope you all stick around for some time to come, and continue to contribute your wisdom and the occasional smartass remarks.

Happy to help. Please keep me posted on your dd's progress.
