Sounds like a pirate movie. Says I......
Help me understand the purpose or how air traffic controllers are layed off, or jobs blanked.
How does this work???
I was a train dispatcher for over 10yes. which is a rail traffic controller. The railroads could never get away with anything like this. then again we work for the stock holders, however the FRA (federal rail administration) does have a hand in the pot. Some desks were more difficult than others. This is one of those jobs that is manned 24/7 including Christmas.
So my question is, how are they able to slow production of a worker.??

PS If a train leaves L.A. at 3am and another train leaves Chicago at 1am. Where will they meet?? Yea that's right,,,I'm the guy who knew the answer in school.

My understanding is they haven't laid anyone off - they've reduced their hours by making each one periodically take an unpaid (i.e. furlogh) day off.

Gotta love the way the news reports that the flight delays are due to the cuts - like delays don't happen on a daily basis. I have to wonder though whether there are some deliberate efforts to delay flights by the ATC's and pilots who aren't happy about the cuts. They've been able to cause delays in the past by strictly adhering to every regulation in the book.

Someone screwed up big time if they "meet" rather than pass by each other. ;)

Bitter employee sindrum, due to furlogh days,,,,,sounds more like it.
And I have seen the rule book used as a weapon of delay.
