NorCal 10u Teams

Was unable to get out to see the 10u teams this past weekend. Anyone care to update us? Who are the strongest teams? Any team looking to make noise in the fall at 12u?

According to the bracket it looks like the 02 Breeze won it. Followed by:

2nd) OBS Monarchs
3rd) Team California / Lady Spartans

Thanks Swami. Yes, talked to a few people today who were out there and the consensus is that the Breeze is extremely strong. Team California is playing well as are the Spartans. The big surprise is the Monarchs. They like came out of nowhere. Does anyone have any info to share on this team? Where are they from?

Do the Heat and Rocklin Hype have 10u teams? I havent seen them.

I think the Monarchs are based out of the central valley, but this 10U team is ran by Coach Conrad. I believe he runs the team out of the Roseville area. I'm with you I havent heard much about them until now. Regarding Team California I have been told they are mostly 03's (unconfirmed), if that's the case, teams coming out next Spring better watch out because they are way ahead of the curve. As far as the Lady Spartans go they always find a way to win....Could be coaching, could be the drive in the kids, could be the water...but the last couple of years they have put quality teams on the field.

As far as the Heat and Hype neither one of those organizations have a 10U team this year. All American Mizuno didnt put a 10U team on the dirt this year either. There are definately less 10U teams over all this year than last. It seems like the larger organization are either going away from the 10U business or they cant fill a squad.

The upcoming Spring Swing ASA tournament on March 23-24 will be a good measuring stick for which teams will be considered the top 10U teams in Norcal. KG Hitters and Benicia Fired Up will be playing in this tournament. Both very good records in the fall with most players returning this year. Also, the Bears out of Concord, Ca have a very good team as well. If you are following 10U teams this year, this will be a good tournament to keep an eye on!

I am posting this ranking list based on my friend's assessment who has been following the 10u teams:

1- Breeze Been playing together for some time now and are well ahead of the other teams. Solid hitting. Good showing in Las Vegas last weekend.

2- KG Hitters Also been playing together for several seasons. They havent been playing in tournaments yet but this is based on their fall team.

3- OBS Monarchs The surprise team thus far. More surprising is that this team is primarily '03. Strong coaching is evident.

4- Foothill Gold Strong hitting team who has also been together for some time. Could be in #2 or 3 spot.

5- Lady Spartans A well balanced team. Won consistently last year. Lost in championship last weekend to Foothill Gold which moves them from #3 to #5.

6- RR Gold Good pitching and coaching. They also run the bases well.

7- Team California An up and coming team with several upsets under their belt. Coach Garcia is the head coach but team is not as strong without his presence.

8- Salinas Storm An older, good team that will get better throughout the season.

9-Hotshots Looked strong this past weekend with a Saturday win against RR Gold. Aggressive baserunning and a strong pitcher.

10- Elk Grove Thunder A team listed here due to a big fall off of the rest of the field.

It's not an organization like Breeze more like Rocklin Hype or Lady Magic they have 2-3 teams.
