I don't come by here that often any more but a "best pitcher in the country" titled thread is destined for Dani, Ray-Ray and Pitchermom greatness. Sure I cringed when I realized that the pitcher in question came from my state and that she had been dominating at the same local NSA, Pony and USSSA levels my dd's were competing well in if not dominating.
Despite the OP's borderline creepy obsession with a girl that is not his dd, I will be following this pitcher and rooting for her success and give the OP full props if she achieves it. Whatever faux pas was committed by the OP by coming to a left coast dominated forum and hyping a pitcher of such dubious credentials, who are ALLCAPSGOLD and Anonwanker to dismiss her sight unseen (who from SoCal would quote Plato on a softball forum anyway?)
I still expect her to be humbled this spring and there's no doubt that if she would have been much better prepared for high D1 level competition if she went to PGF last year instead of Pony nationals. Still, she's just a freshman and even if she gets bombed by the left coast teams VT plays next month she may yet have a solid collegiate career ahead of her.

Watched her pitch yesterday and she is very good and has a very bright future. Got hit hard by Fullerton in the first inning but came back and did well the rest of the game. And she will do very well without all your input.
By the way, #9 UCLA just lost to Northridge and Fullerton in the last week. They are not a #9 team at this time. Fullerton and Long Beach are not elite teams either.

I just find it funny that everyone says she will be rocked because she did not play West Coast ball.

I don't think people were saying she would get rocked. They were saying that playing against the best players will make her better. I know for a fact that even her head coach at VT wished she had faced better players during her travel ball days. You hear about these pitchers who just dominate in high school and even in travel ball playing the lower circuit and you never know how good they are until they face the top hitters. I can give you plenty of examples of pitchers that were All World in high school and were not successful in college because once they faced better players, they realized they can't just throw it by people. Nobody even said West Coast Ball. Boulder is a national tourney with top teams from all over the country. And if you are to look at all the elite pitchers in college right now, almost everyone of them played at the highest level against the top competition in travel ball...Ricketts (Sorcerers), Traina (Team North Florida), Escobedo (Arizona Hotshots), Rogers (Gold Coast Hurricanes), Dumezich (Southern Force), Henderson (Lady Magic), Moore (Sorcerers/Hotshots), Carda (Lady Magic), Renfroe sisters (Tennessee Fury/Xplosion/Southern Force), Luna (Texas Blaze), Fico (Gold Coast Hurricanes).... did you notice that I just mentioned the ace pitchers for 11 out of the top 12 currently ranked teams in the country. The only one that was not mentioned was Missouri's Thomas who played high school ball in the summer. Maybe Kelly Heinz can be that next Chelsea Thomas. Only time will tell.
