Same here. DD tried everything else and one day whatched her friends play and said ok I will try. That ended life as we knew it. Amazing how you could suck at most other sports and find your home on the dirt? She has a year and a half until she goes off to college. Who knew what this would lead to but I wouldn't change a thing. What a neat ride... :D

I played baseball and wasn't very good. Softball was the logical choice for my daughters since it was the only sport in which I could live vicariously through their accomplishments.

DD played rec soccer for 1 year and then travel soccer for 5 years but quit 2 years ago to focus on softball.

She played rec softball from 4-11 and then moved to TB her 2nd year of 12U.

2 months ago she surprised my wife and me by announcing that she wanted to try out for the HS water polo team and is now playing on the JV team and loves it.

I'm happy to see her back in a sport that is cardio-centric.

DD did soccer, ballet, ice skating, lacrosse, softball, equestrian show jumping & field hockey . She's narrowed her focus down to club softball, club field hockey and show jumping (in the winter when FH & softball are minimal).

She works on her pitching most of the year and will be in tune for her sophomore year in school ball and the collegiate exposure events her club softbll team will play the Spring/Summer. DD is going to Florida in a few few for the big field hockey exposure event at Disney to see how she stacks up to the elite FH players.

We're just happy all these activities and all of her school work keep her occupied and out of trouble......too much idle time is not good for the 15 y/o teenage girl.

It started fairly innocently. We wanted her to be around other kids before she started real school, so we put her in pee wee ball at 3 years old, she has loved it ever since. What started as "just wanting social time" turned into quite the investment of time and money as you all know.

She tried basketball briefly but her heart is in Softball. My youngest's heart is unfortunately in gymnastics. *sigh*

In the winter of 2000, some of the guys I played slowpitch with had girls playing in the local rec league.
They got me interested in signing up my 10 yr old up for the spring 2001 season.
As we were getting in the car to go to the sign ups, my 5 yr old ran out and was pissed that we weren't signing her up.
So she got in the car and went with us, and I wrote out an extra check to sign her up.
Been writing checks ever since...

Older kid also played soccer, surf club, but never was really interested in committing to anything.
She played softball through high school, I think just as much to hang out with her friends, she played travel lite with teams out of the rec league through 16's.
Younger kid picked up softball pretty quick, and her crazy dad had her pitching to him an hour before the other kids showed up at practices...she could throw a few strikes at 6 years old, and since dad was the coach, she became a pitcher... :D
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.
