In the winter of 2000, some of the guys I played slowpitch with had girls playing in the local rec league.
They got me interested in signing up my 10 yr old up for the spring 2001 season.
As we were getting in the car to go to the sign ups, my 5 yr old ran out and was pissed that we weren't signing her up.
So she got in the car and went with us, and I wrote out an extra check to sign her up.
Been writing checks ever since...
Older kid also played soccer, surf club, but never was really interested in committing to anything.
She played softball through high school, I think just as much to hang out with her friends, she played travel lite with teams out of the rec league through 16's.
Younger kid picked up softball pretty quick, and her crazy dad had her pitching to him an hour before the other kids showed up at practices...she could throw a few strikes at 6 years old, and since dad was the coach, she became a pitcher...

Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.
