It may, but not really. If you DD is that good, there is nothing keeping possible offers from coming in whereas an NLI pretty much seals the deal and it is hands off for other coaches.
Yes it does since once a girl "verbals" the other coaches no longer persue the player. They move on and fill their needs elsewhere. Boys on the other hand are recruited until the last minute before they sign.
Us parents ain't so bright sometimes. Wouldnt it be nice to know you have a couple, or even several, options available until your Senior year?
And if softball was a head count sport, where everyone got a full ride, then we, as parents, would be a whole lot brighter. LOL
I think the reason you don't see the number of decommitments in softball as compared to football and men's basketball is two fold. 1) The scholarship budget for softball and other equivalency sports fluxuates with each offer made and accepted. So coaches feel the pressure to put a time limit on their offers, so that in the event the player doesn't take it, they can move on. 2) As of now, there isn't the 7 figure contracts and the immense pressure to win, so there is still a bit of comaraderie and respect between coaches, there isn't the need to negative recruit in order to steal recruits and such.
Yes there are some that do continue to recruit after the kid commits, but it is definitely not the norm or even prevalent.
