It is definitely NOT TRUE!! Over the past few years, I have had plenty of schools that are looking for seniors each summer. For many reasons including homesickness, unhappy over playing time, etc. players leave schools and this leads to schools needing replacements immediately. I have a top ACC school that will take a pitcher right now!!!! So if you know of a JC pitcher or any pitchers that could transfer in immediately so that they could pitch in the spring, please let me know!!!

Daughter got no offers other than some JC and small DII schools. She played 2 years at a local JC and then got noticed by a DI coach. Played her junior year with about 3/4 ride, coach liked what he saw and gave her a full ride her senior year.

No, you're not SOL! It simply means your DD is moving on with her life, preparing for a career and the rest of her life. Most of the softball majors who graduated in the last 12 months...are finding out that the degree in P.E. ain't gonna pay the rent.

BTW...there are plenty of ways to pay for college besides going to work for a college softball coach...focusing on grades instead of a batting average is a good start for any of you young parents out there who are about to drink the kool-aid.

We know of seniors who are now hearing from new schools and all would be good fits. None of them are getting offered full scholarships starting out the first year but will be getting more money year by year. However, this is no different than what they would have been offered earlier. If you are not going as a pitcher or catcher, chances are you are not going to get a full ride for four years. No one is SOL.

As I have said before on here, grades make a huge difference in what a coach can potentially offer. My daughter was an outfielder her entire softball career, but because she carried a 4.0 GPA in JC, the D1 coach was able to offer her a full tuition waiver. A very small portion of her ride during her JR year was athletic money. Her senior year he did add a fairly large chunk of athletic funds to cover the rest of her ride.

I agree you are not SOL if you have not verballed by your senior year. I will say that you are significantly more limited simply because not all of your choice schools will have money or space available. So you may have to go further down your list or you may have to open your list up to schools that you had not previously considered as an option. If you remain flexible with where you go (both location and level) and realistic with the amount of athletic aid that will be offered, you can find a home.

Agree with the others. You are definitly not SOL just more limited. I have personal friends that didn't get picked up by anyone until she started in JC then saw that a school was looking and within a couple weeks made the move and got full money. This is more of a rare case but it worked out well. Smaller D1 but the kid is very happy and in her Junior year now. If you can ball and are open to options other than your main list there is a home for you.

My youngest dd didn't verbal until the fall of her Senior year. Sophomore year she turned down a lot of good DI schools. HS ball soph. year, she was injured. After HS ball junior year she was in a car accident, severe whiplash. All the schools that had been looking at her before turned away.

Thanks to the help of a certain person on this board, she was able to get more looks, people that had faith in what he said. Turns out a school she never even heard of liked her. Turned out to be the PERFECT school. She wanted a small DI school on the East Coast. Turns out the school had her major and even let her double major.

Have to admit, was getting worried, but it turned out for the best and she is happier than she has ever been and knows she will make a huge impact this year.

Also, had MANY offers at PGF. Some big name schools too that had said if it didn't workout on the east coast she would have a home. Sorry, not going to happen, but nice to know people still looking.
