2012 Demarini Invitational

What's on your mind?

by gtq » Wed Jul 04, 2012 6:49 am

We have posted the pool play schedule for the 2012 Demarini Invitational July 12-15, 2012. This is our third year running this tournament in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. We are very proud of the teams attending and the college coaches they are attracting from across the country. Here is a link to the schedule:

There is no admission fee for the tournament and no parking fees. If you live in the Chicago area this is a great opportunity to see last year's PGF and ASA Gold National champions in person as well as many other great programs from throughout the country.

We have done this the last two years and it has worked out pretty well. I think the college coaches appreciate seeing the 16s they are looking at playing against some high level 18 teams. Also, this is a very good group of 16 teams in the tournament as reflected by their recent Colorado finishes - Boulder and Aurora. They are aware when they enter that they will be playing 18s and are cognizant of the challenge.

I believe that according to Mr Notso Freakiniceonthefone ... mixing 16 & 18's are within DeMaFreakinRinis acceptable tolerances ....

They had lots of games rained out yesterday, but they're making them up today.

I don't see any results on the web site. I heard Team Mizuno just beat the reigning ASA/USA 14u champion, OH Lasers Gold.

Anybody have more info to share?

We were able to pick-up play first thing Sat am and makeup all the Fri pool games. At the end everyone got their 6 pool play games and many coaches came back out on Saturday. We did have to scrap elimination play which was a little disappointing, but the primary focus was recruiting so a set pool schedule and making sure all the teams got their games were our primary considerations. We finished pool early Sunday and also had time for some killer practice game matchups on the available fields. We will get the pool play scores up on the website in the next couple of days. Thank you to the great teams who participated, the many college coaches who attended, and to OnDeck Softabll for running their first ever Chicago Jamboree to start us off with a big bang on Wednesday.

No ... but that falls within company tolerances ... Which are somewhat like 2nd Place is the same as First Place, Third Place is the same as 2nd ... etc ..
