The 2 best 5A teams in Houston are Alvin and The Woodlands PERIOD!
(in any order you want to put them)

I saw someone earlier that said that they would like to have seen Tomball face #1 the entire game. I would like to have seen what The Woodlands would do if 55 had been healthy all season.

Alvin: Starting SEVEN seniors. They are a well coached team that has only lost to The Woodlands. Have beaten the likes of Pearland, The Woodlands, Brazoswood and Flower Mound. Not super strong pitching, but effective. They can hit!

The Woodlands: 55 is hitting and playing 1B now and expected to be pitching soon. That changes everything. This will be a WHOLE different team if she comes back to anywhere near where she left off. Several All-State seniors that have already won state on the roster.

Pearland: Solid team but I think they have too much youth at key positions to go all the way.

Katy: The wildcard. They have some experience. They are well coached and they have solid pitching.

If you don't think that being a "young" team matters, you don't know high school softball. The pressure is there EVERY WEEK when you are in the playoffs. WIN OR GO HOME. I havent seen what I would call a "young" team win the state tournament in a while. (Maybe Austin Bowie of a few years ago)

Not so. Just going by what I have seen. And the way they are losing to teams with too many " E ". My kid does not go to school in P.Land.

No disrespect Cipher, but if my kid had a scholarship to play at UCLA and was coming off arm/shoulder problems me as a parent would REALLY be thinking hard before my DD stepped into the circle. I would take it slow and make sure it had healed completely because she has 4/5 years left in her career. I wouldn’t jeopardize my DD GREAT opportunity to get a GREAT education just so my High school/Travel team could win. Sorry but just looking at the big picture. She is no doubt an AWESOME pitcher when healthy and has proved it. Me as a parent just can't see jeopardizing that kind of opportunity. Like I said no disrespect and the Woodlands are a good team with alot of talent on that roster.

Everyone here on Heybucket that knows me knows I love the offensive side of the game, but it takes Great pitching and Great defense to win a State title. Yes you have to be able to hit, but Pitching and Defense win tiltles. Period!!! So once Playoffs start I will be looking at which teams pitcher's are hitting true form. Katy will be a force when it counts with Marks on the hill no doubt. I will definetly be making my rounds around the Houston area to watch some GREAT softball during this time frame.

She's gotta start sometime.

I don't figure she would come back as the work horse she was last year but I think she will be back.

These kids play HS ball because they LOVE IT! They love representing their school and playing for the pride of their school and in front of their friends.

I understand she is chomping at the bit to get back and Mom, Dad AND the HS COACH are keeping her on her rehab schedule.
