TNL Coach Released - Mistrial Declared

What's on your mind?

Does anyone know exactly what was said?

Was the jury split 11-1 on count one or not, I have read several different splits.

Did the coach ever dispute that he sent those messages, if so, how did he do that? What was his explanation for how these messages where sent from his phone? How was his attorney's able to prove that someone else sent those messages from his phone?

It seems that the only evidence the prosecution had and the only evidence that many posters on this board are basing his guilt on are these text messages, I'm just wondering how much do we actually know about the specifics of these messages.

Several players, including my daughter, testified that they communicated with the coach via text messages frequently. The former players, now playing D1 softball in major programs, testified they continue to stay in touch with the coach via texting and phone calls.

Players and other coaches testified that the coach "was always on his cell phone talking or texting". For those of us on the upside of 50 years, texting is a foreign subject. But for kids and people that work with them, it is very common practice.

By the way, the defense showed how sloppy and cursory the police investigation was - the Detective did not interview any of the other players except the victim's one friend, nor any of the other coaches that would have had occasion to witness alleged inappropriate behavior of the coach towards the victim during practices, or the coach's two roommates, who were both home during the alleged incident.

The Detective also didn't supenoa the coach's computer, email records, nor seize bedding samples to search for DNA.

So, did he get off because he was innocent or because the investigation was half-arsed?

Was the judge as liberal as most judges are these days? Child molestors get off with a slap on the wrist or less all over the nation nowadays, it seems :|

Oh, and which college in NC is he coaching at now? My DD will start working on a list of colleges to look at in the near future....

At some point you would think some of you would act like mature adults, but I guess thats too much to ask. The sad part is life has a funny way of teaching us lessons, some of you will probably learn this one the hard way, whether it be you or someone close to you. We can only guess how close minded you will be when it's your little world!
Some facts for all of you:
-The girl in question told her parents, lawyers, detectives and the prosecution that she was an innocent little virgin. It wasn't until she spotted her ex boyfriend in the courtroom (subpeonaed by the defense)that she decided it was time to tell one truth, that she had been sexually active since she was 15!! Big shock for mom and dad I suppose.
-The girl was caught in several huge lies on the stand. That being one and others about when she claimed they had sex. Phone records proved she was nowhere near the site at those times so how could she be having sex with the coach at his house when she was making phone calls from Vista at the same time??? One of a couple lies like this one.
-The girl in question was known to be a liar. It has been said that she spread rumors around her school about another girl being gay to the point where that girl (who wasn't gay) had to transfer out of the school!
-The girl in question showed her true character several times on the stand when she got caught in a lie and then started going off on the lawyer making herself look extremely uncredible.
-It has been said that the girl in question was texting her high school coach at all hours and so frequently that his wife had to call and tell her to back off or she would be cut from the team!
-It was shown in court that the girl in question initiated the majority of text messaging and there were only 2 text messages that could possibly be construed as suspect, UNTIL you read the whole conversation.
-It was shown in court that the girl in question sent quite a nasty email to the coach about what a lousy coach he was for not getting her a scholarship and she was quitting because of it. NOT ONE mention of sex there!
-The phone conversations were played in court and there was literally no evidence of sex. Now if someone you had sex with called you and said they had an STD, don't you think the topic of you and that person actually having sex would come up in the conversation?? Please.

The jury made the right decision and the only reason it wasn't unanimous is because the defendant is black and the accuser was the pretty little white girl. NOW THAT'S REALITY.
Some of you really do owe TNL an apology. There were some really mean and evil things posted on this site about TNL and the coach and those with any gonads should retract them.

Liberal judges? Maybe where you are, not here, especially when it comes to something as serious as sex with a minor. And why do you yall keep calling this man a child molestor? What leads you to believe this? Because this young lady says she had sex with him? And some text messages that can not be confirmed to contain any information that is incriminating being that he texted all his athletes? Not to be pro-coach here but I find it alarming that this man is assumed to be guilty when I have not heard a shred of real evidence other than a accusation and some text messages that may or may not have contained anything incriminating. Why does one individual's statement carry more weight than the other? Why is one automatically assumed to be telling the truth and the other assumed to be a liar? hmmmmmm?

BINGO! Now that you brought up GetaGrip55, I did not want to go there, but I was thinking it, and hinting at it in my previous post. Your post actually posted while I was posting mine so I had not seen your post, but that is what this is all about, and exactly why people can not let it go. This is the acqusation of a white female agaisnt a black male, and the perception of guilt has automatically been placed on the black male regardless to what the facts say. But yet this country has come so far, yeah right, ask coach how far it has come.

Well I guess it has, he is not in jail, although he is still guilty in the court of public opinion, so I guess that is where we have a ways to go.

If you read the papers the majority of them stated that another young lady also filed a report of sexual battery. :o But your right he probably is innocent. LMAO!

Yes, that was in the papers, yet when the prosecutors talked to that young lady she said it wasn't true and she wanted no part of this case. Oh and she was a friend of the accuser. Obviously the prosecution would have used her had there been any merit there. So while you are laughing I am sitting here amazed at how in this day and age some people still believe everything they read. wow!

Why wasn’t this young lady who also filed sexual misconduct charges against the coach used at trial by the prosecution as a witness? Hmmm, first I have heard of that one, if true, then the prosecution dropped the ball big time by not calling this girl or at least trying to get this girls statement admitted as evidence if possible. It would go a long way to show a pattern of behavior that would be consistent with what they where trying to prove which is that he is capable of engaging in sex with a minor. Again hear say, and automatically this information is given creditability, why? Who is this other young lady? Where has she been? What about all the other young women who came and testified on his behalf? Why are there statements being discredited or not accounted for? Just curious......

There is no evidence of that being a factor. You chastise those who condemn without having all the facts yet you make baseless accusations.

Oh and get ready for crucifixion by the resident right wing extremists. Gotta go get the popcorn.

You mean to tell me that there is no evidence of people rushing to judgement on this board agiasnt this young man for some apparent reason? There is no evidence of a rush to judgement? Hmmm,Ok, I will give you that there is no direct evidence that specifically says that this is a racial thing, or any direct evidence that states that the rush to judgement of this young man on this board is based on the racial make up of the involved parties, I will concur that I just jumped to a conclusion based on what I construe as fact...oh wait a minute....sounds exactly like what this board is doing to this young man doesnt it? So why is it ok in one instance but not in the other? There is no evidence that proves this mans guilt yet it is ok for some folks to condem without having all the facts and ok for them to make baseless accusations? Why? The thing is allot of nasty things have been said about this coach, without any real evidence indicating this man did anything, great point demonboy, I could not have said it better myself.
