It has to have a meeting room that can be closed off from the rest of the restaurant. Just in case say coaches bring their always rowdy girls in after practice or after a game - and the girls have to reenact every exciting play - there inside. Not saying that I would ever have known someone with a team like that. (right Rob, Mark, Robert, Mike, Noe, etc. etc. ?)

Great Information from everybody. It has opend my eyes I am the type of father who does sit and watchs and cheers for the team and for my DD . But when we get in the car for the ride home My criticism starts up. I never relized that my criticsim was pushing here to hate the game that she loves until I read the artical.

the article should be "Qualities of a nightmare sports parent AND coach", you're DD's coach needs to be held accountable as well, some kids get beat into the ground on the field by their coaches then on the way home by their parents, pretty pathetic, and unfortunately will continue to happen

I found the worst time to talk about the softball game was on the ride home. Because my DD told me early on not to that it. I noticed she came around and wanted to talk about it later on her own time.
The worse the game was the more likely we would be stopping at DQ for a rootbeer float and we spent some of the best moments of a father and daughter could have just hanging out with our drinks.

My DD made it very clear that she "Did not want to talk about softball!" in the car ride home- good, bad or whatever. Any talk of softball would cause the instant appearance of her ipod headphones...

Now she calls me from college after practice to let me know what they did and what she is working on-it was worth the wait
