Wow... I read the first post... and then all the remaining replies... and this must be "National Get Your Panties In A Twist" day. Or is it "17 cups of coffee isn't enough" time?
I think the OP was an attempt to be humorous that may have, ahhh... not been received as such by some. Anyone who has been on this board for more than 81 minutes knows that college ball and travel ball are two entirely separate entities and when you distill the travel ball players down to the best 2-4% of players and they go to college, the competition is entirely different. How many times have posts mentioned that when you go to a college team you may well ride the pine for awhile, something that some players are ok with and some cannot tolerate, particularly considering the time investment, hard work and (dare I say) the point of going to college... education. It goes back to "buyer beware", "fit" and "do your research". Personally, just IMHO, the issue is not the player, rather, the parents who have struted the stands boasting about their DD for 4-5 years as she is gawds answer to all things softball. Unfortunately for some, DD is now just another player and her teammates are not chopped liver. Different game and venue.
DD is playing two sports in college. Her "second sport" (volleyball) has her on the pine about 70% of the time. But she loves the game, the intensity, knew that as a freshman she wouldn't start and has realistic expectations. And, based on the time she did play, she is confident that her playing time will increase significantly her sophomore year. Realistic expctations.
This really does sound like a lack of preparation issue or a parent issue, not a player issue.
JMHO. I will crawl back underneath the dark, damp recesses of my rock. Enjoy in good health.
