Church and Softball?

What's on your mind?

by vines2651 » Wed Jan 04, 2012 3:23 pm

Awesome conversation! To Him be the glory! I was a young adult pastor for 5 years and my daughter plays travel softball. We always made church with the entire family by attending Saturday or Sunday evening services as well. Sometimes I felty guilty being in church Sunday mornings knowing my daughter was on the dirt. I would always pray for a church friendly schedule. Believer's have to keep the main thing the main thing at any cost. Jesus is our source! I am glad the Sabbath was made for man. To be honest I now desire evening worship to morning services. At the end of the day I need my daughter to have a personal relationship with Jesus!

I am not ashamed of sharing the truth about Jesus and what he's done in my life and my entire families lives. This year our organization will start holding bible studies during game breaks at tourneys and friendlies. I left a great high school baseball team as coach to start a travel softball team for this very reason. How easy it is to get caught up in things of the world and forget about what is truley important in life. I would of agreed with many of the others who commented earlier but since I took the time to read the bible for myself and lived the life changing experiences the living word has done for me and others around me, I will continue to share GODS truth with anyone who is willing to listen. Try it for yourselves, read GODS word and see if it don't speak to your heart. Start with the gospel of John so you can understand who JESUS is and what HE did for all.

How selfish. All TB coaches have their own reasons for starting travel teams, though, so you're surely entitled.

As for the rest of what you said, IF it was all true, the need for the heavy indoctrination would not exist. But, because of the general selfishness of some people, they find it necessary to rob a great percentage of children of the chance to learn and explore on their own. It's unfortunate, but in an unenlightened society, that's what we get.

Hey Black Wido... err SoftBallSoccerDad,

Why the need to deride people for their beliefs when the OP simply asked how others (presumably those with shared beliefs about the value they place on church) balanced the two?

Interesting choices of words. ' general selfishness' ' rob.. of the chance to learn' 'heavy indoctrination' - ' unenlightened society ' . Relax, dont fight it so hard, while it makes me sweat jelly beans to say the words, you might want to listen to your wife.

If Jesus was at bat, and Jesus was in the circle ... When would you go to the snack bar ?

Well the runs usually come shortly after a trip to the snack bar, so... Wait, why is Jesus playing softball? I get the feeling Arto will have the answer from a South Park episode!
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.
