You are absolutely correct. Lumberjack should be counted in. Anyone willing to rapidly swing a 38 ounce razor sharp axe at a 30" tree stump and not amputate an appendage should be in the Olympics. And tree climbing... hell yes. Love that free fall return. And... I dunno... how about log rolling? Frankly, Misty May and Keri Walsh on a log, dueling it out. They don't have team log rolling (yet) but how far can that be out?

Can someone please explain how points are scored in the boxing matches?
Is it when they hit their opponenets in the head?
I thought that's how, but I see them do that, yet no points given sometimes.
Then I see points appear on the scoreboard when nothing has happened...

Olympic Bouts consists of a total of four rounds. Each round is two minutes in length with a one-minute interval between each round.

Contests are won by knockout or on points.

A point is awarded for a scoring hit with marked part of the glove on the opponent's head (side or front) or body (above the belt).

A panel of five judges decides which hits are scoring hits.

Judges each have two buttons before them, one for each boxer, and they press the appropriate button when they believe a boxer delivers a scoring hit.

An electronic scoring system registers a point whenever three or more judges press the button for one boxer within a second of each other. No point is awarded for a hit unless three of the five judges agree.

When two boxers trade blows in a flurry of infighting, where no full-force punches can land, the judges wait until the end of the exchange and award a point to the boxer who got the better of it.

At the end of the bout, when each judge's points have been totaled, the boxer awarded the most points by a majority of the judges is declared the winner.

If two boxers end up with the same number of points, the judges decide a winner by assessing such factors as which of the two took the lead and showed better style.

Well Soccer gets to stay in as the goalie gets to use their hands and you need to have throw ins and you still need to use your hands.

Agreed re anything involving subjective judges applying arcane rules that nobody watching knows or wants to know.

Other than that--white water kayaking. It was just on and it's terrible.

Interesting that swimming is such a good spectator sport when it's televised, but such an abysmal spectator sport when you're actually there. DD used to compete, and it seemed like it was invariably 2 hours of crack-of-dawn driving, followed by 8 hours of sitting around waiting for your kid's occasional 60 seconds of action (during which it's hard to even tell which one she is), and topped off by another couple of hours driving home. Blech!

However the judges want to score them. Remember Roy Jones Jr. at the Seoul Olympics? Beat that South Korean mercilessly for 3 straight rounds, and lost the decision.
