The Christmas tree has an image problem? And the Obama admin is the best group to repair it? Really?

WTF is going on with our government?

Taking a page from jonriv... ;) What in nature do you feel the government should tax so they can rehabilitate its image?

If Republicans did this, the Left would be screaming about the separation of Church and State.

From First Read on msnbc.com:

**UPDATE** A White House official tells NBC news that implementation of the program has been delayed.

"The Obama Administration is not taxing Christmas trees. What's being talked about here is an industry group deciding to impose fees on itself to fund a promotional campaign, similar to how the dairy producers have created the 'Got Milk? campaign. That said, USDA is going to delay implementation and revisit this action," said the official.

By the way, the executive branch does not have the power to levy a tax by iteself; that power is expressly given to Congress.

Actually, of the 15 cents, 19 cents will be used for administration costs.

The 15 cent sales tax was created to help pay for the world wide occupy movement. After all, the SEIU, MSNBC and George Soros should not be expected to pay for the whole movement.....

Call it what you want, but why does the Christmas Tree need a promotional campaign?

Are there really so many government employees that they now have to make up new jobs for themselves in order to justify their position and salary?

Why doesn't someone come up with the brilliant idea of government funding to rehabilitate the image of Olympic softball?

The gov't isn't imposing the tax. The industry is in order to promote buying fresh trees. Kind of like the milk and beef industries. Read the article. Hysteria launched on misinformation.

Lets just say, for the sake of argument, that the 15 cent FEE or TAX on trees, which ever you prefer to call it, is actually the brainchild of the X-Mas tree industry, as a way of generating funds to improve the "marketing" of their industry....which is what the professional left is trying to spin. This still does not justify government intervention and regulation of a private industry. It is not the government's job to "market" a private industry, nor regulate it when regulation is not called for. Any doubters are welcome to look up fanny and freddie and the government mandate that a percentage of their home loans be made to low-income, high-risk home buyers.

BTW...if I and all the other tax payers are paying your morgtage...your welcome
