ASA Gold San Diego - Seems Really Disorganized

What's on your mind?

by 93players » Sat Jul 23, 2011 11:07 pm

1. Its 36 hours to pool games start and no pool games and teams have been posted. Note: these pool games are nonseeding.
2. Really hurts college coach planning for trying to see uncommitted teams.
3. Really hurts team planning for events for team bonding. Cant plan them.
4. Practice games not posted on main site. We know they are taking place on Sunday. Let the college coaches know.
5. It's hard to buy tickets for the padres tuesday asa game when you do not know when you play tuesday and wednesday.
6. 64 teams. All set on the 18th of July. None of them backing out no matter what the draw, so what is the problem with the ASA.

Give 'em a break, they're new at this. Oh, wait. Never mind.

I'm sure there will be plenty of tickets available for the Padres game.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

The latest pool game is 3 on Tuesday and the earliest bracket game is 9 on Wednesday. The Padres game should not be an issue.

Maybe!

That's a understatement, should be plenty, plenty of tickets to go around. I would try and buy a ticket from a scalper, probably cheaper then the $12 and probably a much, much better seat.

GO GIANTS, war SF Giants winning the WS again.

I would set pool game times and opponents and move teams to another pool at the same time if their direct opponent is in the bracket first round draw. Too many coaches emailing too many players and we are telling them, ASA has not yet told us game times for the pools. There are 64 teams here not 130. Its 32 games on 6 fields. Six time slots to work with for every pool game.

I would even be in favor of drawing both pools and brackets before we get here. This is SUPPOSED to be the best of the best. One minute we are told they are checking bats at checkin, then we are told no bats will not be checked. It is not the first time you have run this tourney. Needs to be better organized. Maybe they should talk to the organizers of the Boulder Indy tourney. College coaches love that one.

If "no bats will not be checked", that means all bats will be checked.

I suspect you meant "...then we were told 'no, bats will not be checked'."

In which case, Home Run Derby in San Diego!

Forecast for San Diego: Clear, mid 70's through the week. :D
Forecast for OKC: Clear, low 100's through the week.

ASA got something right!

It's 10 pm PT and no pools or brackets are posted. There is no way anyone can call this a first class tournament. Look at their stapled tournament book of teams. $10 for a stapled product!
