PGF National Qualifiers

by Gary Haning » Mon Jun 06, 2011 1:36 pm

Thanks for the comments and if there are any specific things that you would like to say please email me at batbuste@pacbell.net, I promise to read all and reply as best I can.

I heard a number of things about Arizona and there are obviously things we need to improve.

The updating of scores and brackets has been a problem as the chain to get the stuff to our website is too long and has many weak links. The qualifiers all have their own websites but peope do not know of them if they arre not on a team in the tournament.

We had three qualifiers this weekend, Texas went very well, New Jersey went very well and Arizona did not go well. There are a million moving parts to these things and I freely admit we need to learn and grow. ASA has thousands of people running tournaments for them, Triple crown or others like them has the same as well as paid local reps to oversee their events.

This is our secondyear of existence, we have to build an infrastructure and it will take some time. If a team chooses to play elsewhere until it sees we have overcome these issues that is its right and we understand. We will continue to work to see that all of the tournaments we are involved in are run correctly and that tournament information is readily available to all.

Hi Gary,
If you get on this forum today can you please get word to the director for the Colorado Qualifier (June 11-12) that the folks coming from out of state still have no idea when they play! It is Thursday, and still no pools or brackets on the PGF website. Is there another place to find this information?

If anybody out there knows another website or can post a link-it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

There are pool (practice) games on Friday, but not for seeding, and apparently only if you requested them.

Seems the quals don't have an SOP issued from PGF. Imagine that might change next year.

For Gary Haning,

PGF website now says that all 18HS division games for SoCal PGF Qualifier June 17 - 19th will be played in Hemet?

Is that true?

36, 16U teams at Yorba and Peralta Park in Anaheim

When did they post the actual SoCal qualifier locations? Seems kind of late when they're so far apart.

Hemet was 1 of the original 3 locations along with Fountain Valley and Anaheim. It is quite unexpected that 2 of the 3 age groups are playing in the Hemet area.

The only consolation for the teams having to play at Hemet is there are no Friday games.

We have allowed the qualifiers to have pool games as that is important in other states.

The SOP is that the pool games do not have any impact on the DE Bracket. We definitely do not want people advertising pool games and then not offering the games.
