Pick up players Question

Can a team that played at ASA State but not qualified pick up players now to go to other ASA qualifiers?
And can they add players to take to Western Nationals if not qualify for Nats.

I heard our roster is frozen now unless we qualify for Nationals but I am also hearing about other teams adding new players to their roster now.

Anyone know how this works?

Once you have played in ANY ASA Qualifier your roster is LOCKED and you CANNOT make any additions until Nationals. For Nationals you will only be allowed (3) pick-up players and they MUST be from your ASA Region and MUST be registered for the same age group or younger and not have played for a team that has qualified.

To get this straight...
If we want to go to Western NAtionals we must go with the team we have now and cannot add any additional players because we did not qualify for Nationals?

Incorrect, you can add up to 3 additional players, as long the players you pick up are not redlined on another teams roster and the other team is not attending either Nationals or Western Nationals.

That's what I was wondering.
I kept seeing ads for players for Western Nats and I was not sure if we could do that.

Go to the ASA website and look at the code. You can review it with acrobat. Pay very close attention to sections 501, 502, and 503. That is the sections that covers pick-up players and your official roster.

You can add players to your roster for regionals and Nationals. The player must be from your region and their team must be eliminated from championship play. That is the main part, but it does go a little further into some more of the specifics.
