A little information about interpreting ball speed:
radar guns:
Common radar guns pulse every 0.2 seconds. If a pitched ball is in the air for say 0.4 seconds, the radar gun will get 2 readings - the first reading anywhere between the pitcher's release and the half way mark, and the second reading anywhere between the half way mark and the catcher's mit. Some guns average readings. Some guns show the maximum reading.
A high end (expensive) radar gun can pulse every 0.02 seconds.
air drag:
The drag calculation is complicated, but...
a 65 mph averaged softball pitch looses a little less than 5 mph over 43'.
a 90 mph averaged baseball pitch looses a little less than 7 mph over 60'.
Drag increases with the square of velocity.
