Guess where those coaches with no DD's on the team started......they coached when their DD's played.

Any grown man who gets involved with coaching girls' fastpitch without first having a dd who plays is immediately suspect, in my book.

I can see continuing to coach after she is done playing, because the game is addictive, but not just taking it up from scratch.

OT: I did see 2.6's dd this weekend. At least I think I did, just a blur running around. DAMN!!!!

He doesn't count....he makes over $100K a year coaching and running tournaments. Its a job.

This might seem hard to believe, but my own wife asked me if I had thought about getting back into coaching after DD (hopefully) goes off to play college ball. Was that some kind of back-handed hint to spend more time away from home?

The daddy ball complaints always crack me up. Where do you think the coaches come from? They were just wandering down the street one day and decided to coach softball. Pretty much all of us started the same way. We signed our daughters up and someone asked us to help. We screwed up and answered the phone and the rest is history. Some go on to become good coaches. Others don't.
My DD played on several teams that I didn't coach and almost everyone of them had coaches who had kids on the teams. You need to see what kind of coaches they are before you choose to play. But I also don't begrudge a parent who gives their own kid some extra playing time because they are the coach. There is a lot of time, effort and money involved in coaching so the coaches kid should get some benefit.

I do it because I enjoy it - both dds get invites to go play other places. My youngest will go play for someone else, in fact, thats already been discussed and pretty much decided - the only issue is the timing. Once these guys finish playing, I might help out with someone but I want to do some serious lawn chair duty watching my grandkids play.
