Why is it so quiet at socal ballparks?

So in light of Arto's post, which I've seen to be true of (many of) the top teams at most tournaments (the respect thing), is it that the NoCal teams are cheering louder against the opposition, while the SoCal teams cheer for their teammates?

On the topic of the value of cheering, we were getting drubbed 10-0 in an elimination game a few months back and the dugout was like a morgue coming in to our last at-bats. I don't often involve myself in the game, but on this occasion I went over and told the girls to get up and make some noise. They looked at me kind of crazy, but then my DD and another girl got up and started some cheers and in no time we had two outs. At which point I think they all figured what the hell, and the songs started, and about 15 minutes later we had scored 9 runs, had runners on 2nd and 3rd and, well, okay, ground ball to the pitcher, game over, lost 10-9. But that remains the most exciting half inning of our season, and taught the kids a valuable lesson. Since then they have rallied back late in several games to win, including beating a #1 pool seed in Cerritos. Now they actually believe they can come from behind, and they're doing it.

Conversely, if you act beat, you are beat.

Now what I don't like about the cheering is sometimes those damn ditties get stuck, stuck, stuck in my head and I can't get rid rid rid of them all the way home home home!!

Here is a topic that should be posted.......... why the Hell Hemet???????? out of all the places Hemet has to be the worst place to play a softball game, with all the beautiful fields in the OC ther as to be a better place............

Now my orginal post was merely an observation. And never thought of condoning poor sportsmanship anywhere it surfaces. Cow bells and Air horns during a pitchers (especially a 10 y/o) wind-up is a disgrace, as is screaming at the players, umps, or coachs from the stands or dugout. But there is a difference between good natured strong cheering from the dugout and stands and what has been mentioned earlier. When you pull into the parking lot at Arnaiz field in Stockton prior to the start of the first game. I could tell you who playing in the first games of the day by there warm-up cheers and chatter. And I must admit I don't mind the comparitive silence of the Socal softball scene. But it is so pronounced I was just hoping for some thoughtful insight on the subject. Thanks, serious contributors, some thought provoking posts on the subject.

It will be a sad day and a loss when Arnaiz comes down. I love that field. I've worked that lil stadium when you'd think the dang World Series was being played, it is so loud and pumped up.

Well not every damn year. Hemet must be a fairly recent development. My kiddo played 3 years
of 12U travel and every year State was in Chino Hills.

Not gonna do Hemet so best of luck to you all this weekend. You guys enjoy yourselves. It just doesn't get any better than 12U State & Nationals.

After two tourny's below the mason/dixon line (oh alright below bakersfield) I noticed the P's and players respond to the game like a fans at a golf tournement, polite opera clap after their kid lays out to snag a screaming shot through the gap? Teams also seem to do little cheering and are very quiet. This normal? It sure seems like the games are much louder up north. Or is it just me? And I'm not talking about and I will apologize in advance for my less sophiticated neighbors who feel cool beverages, and loud rap music are a natural combo and are apperciated at the ballfield.
