What's on your mind?

She's 10 and has been swinging a Miken Halo Light 31/19 since fall of last year and is swinging it pretty well, but the Anderson technology and bat weight really have got me thinking. If I were to pick a Nano size comparable to the swing weight of her current bat, I'm thinking we might need to go with a 30/20? I know you can't give a definite answer without knowing all her stats and seeing her swing, but just by comparing swing weights of bats am I on the right track? Thanks for any help or suggestions!

The NFP has a very low MOI and that is good but a bat can be too light (or swing too light too) but based on what I know about the Halo, up an inch would be appropriate.

Thanks Tumblebug! So it sounds like I'm thinking about it right? She probably needs to go from her 31/19 Halo to a 30/20 NFP. Right? And kudos to you for taking the time to get on here and answer questions from us common people! :D Very Cool! Says a lot about you and your company!

My DD just got a new Nanotek FP and LOVES it! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new bat!

My DD (2nd year 12U) recently changed bats to a a 2010 RT 31/22 from an 2008 Easton Synergy 30/20. She has been training with a 2005 RT 32/23. The two could not be further from each other in perfomance. She hit tremendously better with the heavier 2005. She has been using the 2005 in games now and is hitting very well with it. The change is amazing. She is hitting the ball much further than she ever has. She has come close quite a few times to getting her first bomb! The 2010 never felt right to her compared to the 2005.

From my observation, the 2010 has the "ping" sound some people have discussed and did not have the pop. The 2005 almost sounds like a true composite bat. She has not hit the 2011 yet because she just got it yesterday.

I have a loaded question that I know Tumblebug can answer. What is the main differences in the 2005/2010/2011?

Thanks for everything Anderson Bat Company!

P.S.

To show the great customer service Anderson Bat Company has, I recently sent the 2010 31/22 back and asked if they would exchange it for a 32/32. They exchanged it with a new 2011 32/23 no questions asked! :D

It's not really a loaded question but nobody ever believes me. The new bats test slightly higher in the lab. In designed field tests the results are mixed. Some girls test one better then the other and vice-versa but on the average they are the same.

The biggest difference is the beaded cap. We were asked by ASA to design around the pins. The spring pins that held the two walls in place and secured the cap were problematic. We substituted a beading process often used in sheet metal manufacturing. The biggest problems for ASA were the the pins could be removed and the sleeve and shell could be separated and alterations could be made that made the bat ridiculously hot. A skilled person could do all of the alterations and make it completely undetectable. The beading process makes the separation of shell and sleeve impossible without damage and the clear cap makes it nearly impossible to remove the cap without damage.

The design challenge was to replace the function of the pins without constricting the independent movement of the walls. The bead turned out to be a semi-perfect solution. As with the pins, limited lateral and rotational movement is allowed.

The interesting thing is that the weight distribution change made the bat slightly hotter in lab testing and made no difference in field testing. What that means is that it feels slightly different and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The look of the 2010 also had a change that was either loved or hated. I personally love the clean look of the new 2011 RockeTech and TechZilla.

Just an update....12u DD has been using a 32/22 Nano...recently decided to go back to a 31/21 cf3....Over the weekend used it for 2 at bats then went back to the Nano for good. Said she felt like the ball felt lighter coming off the Nano!!! Everything came off the bat hard... !!! 4 for 10 ...1 dbl 3 singles 2 k's. This was all with a new team that asked her to play for the weekend as a tryout. NO Presure :?:

My 12u dd started hitting a friends 2005 RT (31/29) and loved it. We picked up the 2011 model about a month ago and she is crushing the ball. She prefers the 2011 to the 2005 model.

31/29? Kid must be strong as an ox.

Hey, if you make solid contact with the ball swinging a 31/29, you're definitely gonna crush it. And if you can skillfully swing a -2, you're well on your way to a baseball career.
