Pacifica's Mustache Power

[Carlos Arias]

I just checked my inbox when I got home from the Esperanza-Marina game and I discovered the greatest photos I have ever seen in all my years of covering softball.

On Tuesday while doing a live blog from the Pacifica-Valencia game, I did the first Battle of the Mustaches bracket in honor of Pacifica coach Mark Campbell, the owner of the greatest mustache in county softball.

Campbell made it to the finals, but he lost out to Sam Elliott's marvelous mustache from "The Big Lebowski." Pacifica beat Valencia, 3-2, on Tuesday, but Campbell took a tough loss.

Proud father with mustached Erika.

In an effort to console their coach, the Mariners showed up before today's game against Katella in mustaches. OK, I don't know if it was to console Campbell or if it was a coordinated effort. I'm going with the players wanting to cheer up their coach after a tough Battle of the Mustaches loss.

Kudos Pacifica softball. I salute all of you. Viva la Mustache Power!!!
