Just double-checking since we've seen instances over the years where it wasn't called.

The hands are part of the batter- or the batter's "person"- and a pitch striking the hands is treated exactly the same as one striking an arm, a leg or a noggin. So the next time somebody tries to pass off the old saw that "the hands are part of the bat"...you'll know better than that!
What is the correct call if the batter swings and the ball goes off the hands into fair territory? Is it a dead ball strike or a batted ball?

Should this have been a dead ball? We never questioned HBP as she clearly swung and hit the ball (tight inside pitch) with her arm, but the run scored and we were allowed to sub for her at base while she was hauled to hospital. What would have been the correct ruling?
