10U TOP TEAM RANKING (SOCAL) PRE-ASA STATES FINAL RANKING !

by juvajackie » Tue Dec 08, 2009 12:46 am

Hey softball people. I happen to know that 11 year old "monster" pitcher from San Marcos quite well! She is a great kid and took advantage of the fact she could play 10U or 12U. She loves to play ball which is what its all about, isn't it? She is a very humble kid who works hard and can throw the 12U ball as well. Cool thing is, Blaze has some great 99 pitchers coming up and they have some good hitters as well. They have a lot of heart and good coaches. Thanks for saying the 11 year old pitched well, I will pass that onto her but probably leave out the "monster" comment. Us girls don't like to be called that! Have a great night!

From what i'm reading sounds like alot of girls should be playing 12u.Better get thoses girls up to par with all the new 98 already there because ther are some good 98 teams already.11 year old pitchers should be playing up to get used to ball and distance some real good hitters up in 12u.See you this spring.

No, you're not missing anything......they are. I still don't get why they would do that, but they do. I have never heard a satisfactory answer from anyone that's done it. Definitely doesn't benifit the girl in any way - in fact, it makes it more difficult when they do move up (especially the move from 10's to 12's).
Oh well, they're allowed - Good luck to them later, they'll need it.

Because some coaches think it's all about winning.

What does a '00 have to do with '98? No need to get your feathers rustled over a '00, she won't be on the Eliminators next year...especially if she's all that. Enjoy her services now while you can.... I'm sure the Firecrackers '00 or Batbusters '00 (whoever that may be) will have her interest by the end of the year...

You r way off, I just made a comment that I this little girl 00' is competing w/98's that should be a wake up call and it does not matter what team she is on she is good.

Bubbawheat44, That is a good question as the season is new and we have only been a team for a couple of months. We are in the middle bunch and look forward to see how we pan out throughout the year as we play more teams.

Obviously if you are doing a ranking system you need feedback and data, so hopefully this will help,

Thanks for you support

I may be wrong here, but isn't travel ball about winning, about forming the best team possible and competing against other top teams. I may have been away from travel ball for awhile but there are so many teams now. When my daughter played there was 1 or 2 great teams in our area and thats Orange County. Not every girl made it. Now every upset father starts a team. and has maybe 3-4 good players and the rest are fill ins. Its sad to see what happened to travel ball.

Also coaches are to set on ranking when these are the coaches playing with 12u girls. We will see who is good after the holiday break. When teams are forced to lose your 98's. Your top 4 will still be there because they play with 99's. I am just amazed how many teams use 98's in Travel Ball. If its about the player what happens to these girls next month. They have to go back to Rec ball or they go to a team who has bonded already. Any Coach who justifies why they have 98's playing knows why they really are doing it. The ranking is false if these teams on the list are using 98's. And I have seen most of these top 20 teams using 98's. There are even a hand full that are 98's playing down until January. WHY? Games will be more fun to watch after January.

The 10U poll is now uploaded on the very first post on this thread in addition to this post.

Please fill out with Team Name / Coach and send to me at:

socal10udude@gmail.com

I will leave the poll open until End of Day Friday and post the results immediately thereafter.

If you do not have Excel, you may email me your top 20 and I will incorporate that into the scoring. My EXCEL VERSION IS PREFERRED though.

If you have any questions or issues, please let me know. I had several people help me and test/debug the spreadsheet before use for everyone.

Thanks,

Robert aka SoCal10UDude

Softball Grandpa - I agree, we should wait on rankings until mid-February after all the teams currently using '98 players (especially ’98 pitchers) have played in a couple of friendlys or tournaments with their 1999 roster.

Bologney.

In my experience, most if not all of the top 10 were 99's and even 00's. Perhaps a 98 here or there. For the most part I would disagree with some notion people are saying that current 10U is riddled with 98's and quite frankly is non-sense. That just isn't the case with the exception of very few teams below the rank of 20 and the 98's still couldn't help them. The ones that are in it to win it NEVER had 98's including Firecrackers, Jynx, Bat Busters, Anderson, Watley etc. and several of these teams are carrying up to 2-3 00's.

The top 10 will not change Janaury 1 because of the 98's, because none of them are carrying 98's. So stop making excuses as to why your team got stomped on. It wasn't because of some 98 pitcher.
