10U Top Team Rankings (NorCal) Results

NorCal Rankings Updated !!!!!!!


Here we go Nor Cal Coaches and Fans. The Fresno Classic has come and gone. Our NorCal teams had a very strong showing. All of our teams played the SoCal teams tough. Congrats to RR Gold who made it to the semis before loosing to SoCals #1 ranked team the OC Batbusters.

1. RR Gold is our #1 team. They had the strongest showing in Fresno. They went undefeated in pool play on saturday by beating the #2 SoCal Jynx and the #6 Team Watley from SoCal, to earn the #1 seed. Both of there pitchers were outstanding and the entire team had there bats going. They have been to the SHIP 4 out 5 tournaments and won two of them.

2. Cal Grapettes. They also had a strong showing in Fresno. They also lost to the #1 team OC Batbusters. The pitching and hitting kept them in it. Still need some work on there defense. They should have a good showing the rest of the spring.

3. CC Dirt Dogs. They have 3 solid pitchers and strong bats 1-4. Their D needs some work. They took 1st at the CA Breeze St Patty's day tournament. The dirt dogs also had a good showing in Fresno. They eventually lost to RR Gold in the Qtr Finals. They have a great coaching staff and there girls give it 110%. They will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.

4. All American Sports Academy. This team has been solid. They have already one two tournaments " IFA DA BOMB" at DF and the " LUCK OF THE IRISH " at BLD in Manteca. They are scheduled to play in the upcoming Fresno Force Classic. They have good pitching and play solid D. They are strong 1-5 hitters. Will be in the thick of things come nationals. AASA also went to Fresno and played solid all weekend. They are getting better with every tournament. They cannot be taken lightly and can explode on you.

5. Mizuno All American " Garcia". Good team. They have 2 good pitchers and a strong armed catcher. Solid D. Big hitters in the 1-4 spots. This team will be in the thick of things come nationals. They have a good showing up at some of the DF tourneys. They have a good core of girls and great coaching. You can never look past them. I just wish we could of seen them in Fresno.

6. California Breeze. They have a good group of girls. They have not been able to get past some of the better teams yet. They had a good showing in Las Vegas St Pattys day tourney. Since then they have been ok. Always a threat though.

7. East Bay Vipers. A young team that plays with a lot of heart. Solid pitching.

8.Rosevile Heat. They had a good showing in Fresno. A good group of young girls who are not afraid to play. Another team that has good coaching. Don't under estimate.

9. Salinas Storm. A young team. They are in a rebuilding year. Decent pitching and good hitters 1-4. Should be solid in the Fall.

12. Cen Cal Intensity. Went to fresno. Played tough and have a good group of young girls. They look like they are beginning to gel.

Norcaldude, I know this is just a friendly poll and that you are just stating your opinion but I would have to strongly disagree with you. I don't think you can rank a team #1 if you haven't won any tournaments. How can you justify ranking a team higher than someone who has beaten them...in the Breezes case, 3 times by RR Gold. Dunno but sounds like you are a Breeze booster. Not to take anything from the Breeze, I think that they are a good team but right now, they are not better than some of the teams you have them ranked above.
In their own tourney, they were easily beaten by the DirtDogs and the Grapettes and twice by RR Gold (albeit two close games) Nevertheless, its who wins the championship at the end that matters most. Saw the brackets and RR Gold got a raw deal with the scheduling (gametime 10:45, 3:15, 6:45 when you only have 4 teams total in bracket) Don't want to sound like sour grapes but that looks a little fishy and a lot to ask from 10u girls. AASA, Grapettes, DirtDogs and RR Gold should be ahead of the Breeze with Mizuno AA right in the mix. Its still pretty early in the season but in my humble and unbias opinion, RR Gold is the favorite right now, having played 3 tourneys and being in the ship in all 3. AASA and the DirtDogs is right there behind them. RR has played and defeated 7 of the top 8 teams in your poll, I don't think any of those teams can say the same. On top of that, they went down to SoCal and ran away with the tourney, easily winning all their games but one. Now don't get things twisted, I'm not taking anything away from any of the teams much less the girls but like I said...I strongly disagree with your rankings. All in Fun

First off I am surly not a Breeze booster. I was not aware that RR Gold has been so strong in there outings. I have done some research and I do see that they went undefeated down south and that they have pretty much handled everyone up north that they have faced. Like I said this is only the first ranking of the season. I am just getting warmed up. I will be paying close attention over the next couple of weeks. The upcoming BRATS tournament on the 17-18 and the Fresno Classic 24-25. I will change rankings accordingly.

I think NorCaldude is really an RRGold rep in disguise trying to downplay the team after much hype...RRG has 2 #1 pitchers still learning like all 10u pitchers and can end a close game with 1 swing of the bat from maybe 6 different players..Ennui is there only foe at the moment,gotta wait for the Classic...top to bottom pitching and hitting they're def #1 in NorCal minus the hiccup against Dirtdogs.

Personally I love that you are ranking and giving your opinion about all the teams. Our team has played many of these teams and you have it pretty close to correct. I do think that the Breeze is ranked a bit high but they are an impressive team and well coached. I believe that RR Gold when their pitching is on is going to be hard to beat. Mizzuno AA Garcia's team when Hot can beat any of these teams and they have proved it. Dirt Dogs have a big squad with a lot of power and you have to out pitch them to win. AASA is a team that is well coached and plays good D. They dont seem to have the Lineup some of the other top teams have and Their pitching does not seem to be on the same level. They seem young but they will hang in there with most teams. East Bay Vipers are solid have a couple of good pitchers but def. a step below the top teams. Roseville Heat have a young team. Have some good pitching but again just a step below the top teams. Vacaville Swat (do the yellow uniforms bug anyone else?) This team has a solid starting pitcher but after that? They do have 3 solid hitters at the top of their lineup. I have not seen the Storm, SMackers or Freeze.

The top 8 ranked teams will be playing in the Grapettes tourney this weekend. The outcome will be a good early season barometer for where the top teams in NorCal stand.

My rankings going in:

Favorite - Rebels

Contenders - Grapettes, Mizuno AA, Breeze

Possibles - AASA, CC Dirt Dogs

Dont know much about - Salinas Strom, East Bay Vipers

Hopefully all teams play well so we can have a true standing going into the Fresno Force tourney next weekend. By the end of next weekend the win/loss results should drive the standings.

Everyone I will update the pre fresno rankings after this weekend. I agree with Coach Kat. With all of the Nor Cal teams in action this weekend, we should get a better grasp on who really deserves to be ranked. If you have any input please let me know.

Nor Cal fans It looks like it is going to be a great day for softball. The BRATS tourney is shaping up to give us a true assessment of our Nor Cal rankings before everyone heads to Fresno next week. As far as I can tell RR Gold still looks to be the team to beat, but the Grapettes showed they belong yesterday with 3-3 tie with RR. AA Mizuno also looks strong going undefeated in Bracket A.
