NorCal 10u Teams

The CA Breeze beat the Bakersfield Rebels 10-5 in the championship game and finished the tourney with a 7-0 record. This was the 6th tourney title for the Breeze this summer. The Rebels surprised some teams while fighting their way through the losers bracket to reach the championship game. The Rebels have some good hitters. KG Hitters finished 3rd and seem to be losing more often lately. The Fresno Force were expected give a few teams a good fight but didn't fare well this tourney.

Seeing a lot of new and existing orgs posting for 10 u tryouts. It will be interesting to see where all the players go. Anyone have any insight into winter ball?

I agree YB. There seems to be many new teams starting up in 10U for the fall. It is interesting that there seemed to be fewer 10U teams in the spring/summer season and now it has picked up again.

Speaking of 10U teams, does anyone out there know what is going on with Team California 10U? Haven't seen them playing in any tournaments in the past few weeks....

In Spring/Summer there were fewer "organization" 10U teams... A lot of people thought it was the economy. I think there were a lot more smaller/local 10's teams this season. In 10's you don't have to be part of a big organization to be successful, you just have to have good coaching, develop your players and have fun. Success at 10's is not always defined by going to nationals. Many local teams can and will compete (may not win but can compete) with the bigger orgs.

I watched TC play at Rainbow, a few weeks ago, maybe 2? They played well all weekend but lost on Sunday to a small/local team.

1- Breeze Went 7-0 last weekend. Clearly the strongest team all year at 10u. Headed to Nationals.

2- KG Hitters Strong hitting and very strong pitching.

3- Smackers Very strong balanced team. Took 1st place this weekend. Have been playing very well as of late.

4- OBS Monarchs Beat the Breeze several weeks ago in championship game. Always seem to be in the finals. Strong coaching. Headed to Nationals.

5- Fresno Force Very strong when #1 pitcher throws.

6- Foothill Gold Good solid older team. Did well in Metros but seem to be hot and cold.

7- Lady Spartans A well balanced team. Won consistently last year but surprisingly not as strong this year despite same players. This can only relate to either injuries or weak coaching.

8- Lady Venom - Strong pitching!

9- Dirt Dogs Solid team and getting better each week. Good coaching.

10- Fired up Back in top 10 after good weekend even though weak competition.

I have read your rankings throughout this season, and seem to question your motives or ties to certain organizations. Definitely think you are either Spartans or Monarch parent.

OBS Monarchs beat the Breeze, 1 time, and consistently lose to them every other time. If you were at that game you would have seen the horrible officiating. Monarchs did take the berth to Nationals but only after Foothill Gold passed on it. They did not make the finals of Metros, losing twice to the Foothill Gold, once to Spartans, and once to Breeze.

Not sure what ranking a team based on previous years or seasons has to do with anything. You always refers to Spartans as a team that consistently won last year and now claims they have same players as seasons past. Spartans have 1 returning player from their Spring '12 season and have 4 new players added from last fall, losing all of their pitching. Agreed that coaching has major influence and lack of pitching as well.

Foothill Gold is referred to as an "older team", they are all '02's which many of the teams listed are as well, being this is the 10U Division. There plans are to move up in the fall like many of the teams on your list. The team picked up 4-5 players since their fall '12 season, which too is consistent with other teams in this area. Why do you always refer to them as "OLDER" as if they are not meant to play in this division?

Foothill Gold, Smackers, and KG Hitters both earned berths to Nationals but are going to Western Nationals and I want to wish them all good luck!!

Don't kid yourself, we all have personal ties to these teams in one way or another. My daughter happens to play 12u but my niece plays 10u and me and my husband get out to all the big tournaments to watch her play.
My list is based on what I see out there and input from a friend who coaches one of the teams.
The list is based on the strength of the teams over the course of the year just like college rankings. We enjoy ranking the teams and seeing them play each week.
Believe me this list is very accurate. I'm sorry if you are offended by it but it is just a ranking list don't take it personal.
Also, when referring to "older" I am referring to girls who are second year 10u. There is a big difference in growth and ability from first year girls to second year players. Some teams are all young first year players and others are older. I hope this clarifies what one means in softball when referring to "older" players within a division.

Absolutely we all have ties, that was not a question. I am just stating where I feel your ties lie. Also if you are so in touch and informed as to all the teams you would know many of these girls throughout teams have been playing since they were 8, 9, & 10 and are now 11 years old. I was just wondering why you continue to single out Foothill Gold. Many of the teams have experienced changes in players and coaches. We have played every team on this list and have a seen them play all season long as well in seasons past and I can say I think the Breeze, KG Hitters, Foothill Gold have exceptional coaching and players that work hard and are dedicated. I can say that watching the coaching for the past few seasons there are several "coaches" or teams my daughter would never play for. After this weekend's display by a few of these teams listed I can say that they will not be long-term teams and need to find other organizations or rebuild completely, starting with their coaches.

I have no issue for you to post rankings, but if you are going to post be prepared for people to critique.

SIL...I think it's pretty evident Turret94's connection is to the Monarchs after reading the past posts..."The big surprise is the Monarchs"..."Strong coaching is evident"..."More surprising is this team is primarily 03"..."Most surprizing team this season"...Always seem to be in the finals, Strong coaching". Anyone who has been around 10 u this season knows that one player keeps the Monarchs in a tournament and even with her they've been one & done more than they've been in the finals. Sounds to me like Turret94 gets a dollar for every kid he/she gets to show up to the Monarchs tryouts.
