I will not debate your points as their validity can come from your perspective. College coaches are savvy. They can figure out if a girl belongs in a program because she is good or because she is being carried by her dad. I also agree that very few kids playing ball at the gold level want to share time. That being said, that is what showcasing is all about, sharing time. It is not until you get to the tournaments that only the top 9 play the whole time. And I fully agree that the top 9 spots have to be earned.

This whole thing with daddy ball though can be a bit of a farce. I have seen coaches have favoritism towards certain players whether the players produced or not. So even though they were not related, those kids got more opportunity than other kids. It happens.., people are human. Life is like that. We just need to teach our girls to prevail IN SPITE of the circumstances.

I believe that coaches volunteer a great amount of time, and I for one am thankful that they do. Coaches have favorites..sometimes its based on talent level, heart, effort, intensity of the player. Sometimes its personality . Coaches are human whether dads or not. I dont think its just dads that have trouble being objective judges of talent.

Change is hard, and we resist it and make excuses as to why we dont want to deal with it..even when it can be the best thing for us.

If anyone here thinks his kids aren't going to play are nuts! There will be quite a few kids jumping ship. And no one should blame them! Saw many sorcerer players talking with other coaches this weekend. WOuld love to see some of these kids go AASA, and San Jose Sting way! That would give norcal 2 incredible teams this fall, and next year! Both teams return a great nucleus, and adding a few studs would just put these 2 over the top for next year! We'll see what happens.

Well we just played 2 different Corona Angel teams on Sunday, and they had 23, and 25 players on their lineup cards. Marty had more kids sitting the bench then I have on my entire team. Parents dont seem to mind the playing time issues when you see the kids on the roster going to Neb., Virginia, Cal, Washington, and on and on. Even though I think they are crazy no matter where they go.

Players need to play, not sit.

Doesnt matter whose leaving, whose graduating, whose coming to tryouts, as EVERY year every spot is open, and that is the way you better think as a player and as a coach. You have to teach your kid to fight for a spot each and every year, that includes hitting better and fielding better, and having a better mind set than anyone around you, as well as training harder outside the practice field every year, as you NEVER know who might be strolling on in. It will be no different at the next level so you might as well start now! Now one thing you wont have to worry about at next level is a coach's kid being on team, now at the TB level and I am a returner on a team or a someone new to the team and I know I play same position as the coachs kid, I will prepare myself to the best of my abilites and say bring it on to anyone and everyone if that is THE team you want to play for, you have to have that mindset, or you will fail! good luck to all!
