TC Smash98 to NorCal Firecrackers

so my question is once this current crop of kids move on, then what, crackers say keep writing us a check for $700 each year we dont care if you suck, or do they pull the plug?

Good Luck Smash Cracker!!! Great team who represents Nor Cal well. Or I guess So Cal well?? UGGG!!! I am confused... I know 2 other coaches in different org's and age groups that were contacted by the Firecrackers. (Out of respect I won't name names) The deal they were offered was a lot more than $700 per year.

I am a lil old school as well I like the North v South matches. Having So Cal teams in our back yard just doesn't seem right. I think it's time to get ready for it tho. Like I said they have approached more than one up here.

Ok let me explain, So Cal team name, playing in Nor Cal.... Uggg I am confused!!! Get it??? Are they From Nor Cal or So Cal??? It was a joke, I think we are well aware they are Nor Cal kids. People on HB take things a little to direct at times. Not everyone on here is out to slam kids and coaches.

Best of luck Smash Crackers!!! That's a lil joke too in case anyone was offended by that. Sounds better to me then Nor Cal Firecrackers and it has a lil home town roots to it.

Its a double edged sword ! Smash really had but one great team in the org in the 98's. I mean lets be real they were better than the 97's by far and sure they could of even given the older 16's and 18's in that org a run for their money...Its sad that So Cal orgs are basically buying their way into Nor Cal , I get the exposure and opportunities for the girls are first and foremost but selling out ? It was nice knowing Nor Cal teams (ie sting,smash,sorcerers) could go to So Cal and not only compete but win or play deep on Sundays. I really hope this is not a trend like someone posted previous there were other orgs contacted by Firecrackers, all the years of Nor Cal orgs working hard to rise to the level of So Cal will be in Vain !

Never will wish any bad on 13 to 14 year old girls first and foremost, but I hope this turns out to be the sequel to Goodfellas....Pay me !

First off I would like to congratulate Mike and Steve on their success this past year.

Second, I would have to agree with some of you. At first i too thought they were selling out, but after a few phonecalls and long conversations about the move I truly believe this move was about the girls. There goal is to get each and every one of the girls seen, and the "Smash" name isn't exactly the best brand out there, the "Firecracker" name is recognized in all softball circles. This will allow exposure and connections for those girls they couldn't have gotten otherwise. If Mike and Steve believed it to be selling out they wouldn't have done it. if they feel this is the next step for their team to progress then who are we to judge it.

Im just curious... did this SMASH team have tons of top names schools watching that shortstop and catcher while at PGF? I can tell you I personally talked to a major pac 12 coach about that shortstop(and she aint even on my team), and they were watching them as a SMASH team, not the Firecrackers. Coaches want to look at stud players, no matter what uniform they are wearing.

JMO, as always. BUt if the big names can make you think they only come watch the big names.... they will keep the stud players rolling their way, which will keep them where they are in the hierarchy of the softball world.

Congrats to Smash 98 for being chosen to join the Firecracker organization. I agree that it is weird having a SoCal org in NorCal, but its done now. As NorCal fans we should support one of our teams for getting the chance to do this. If they were joint the Grapettets, Breeze or Sorcerers it would not be as big of a deal. Like it or not the NorCal firecrackers are still representing NorCal . I am sure if it were my daughters team our coach would have done the same thing for our girls. I know I will be bringing my kid out to summer tryouts. I love RED KOOL-AID.

Name is irrelevant to me. ANY organization is only as good as their players and their coaches.
There are LOTS of xxxxxxxxx teams in the loop, you think that makes them all good? LOl,,, and I got some swamp land to sell you also.


There is a certain team in this area that we were run ruling when we were Grapettes, and we are still run ruling them as OBS Monarchs, changing the uniform name didnt change the results.


No matter what happens in the future, that team is legit as they have shown over the past 2 years. Good luck to them.
