4 of the final 8 teams in the winners bracket are from Northern California (Lady Magic, Roseville Heat, KG Hitters, SJ Lady Sharks), yet no chatter. Is it because of the age group? ASA?

It's the age. People post more selectively post 14U

This was one of the worst showings at Nationals ever. There were teams that were practically rec ball teams going deep. None of the real quality SoCal teams attended. I am not sure why, maybe they shut down after the So Cal premire. The team that won it all was from Atlanta. They were a solid team with a real strong pitcher. But they would have been underdogs to 5 or 6 So Cal teams.

The 16U Lady Magic team took second, their only losses were to the Atlanta team that won it all. The Lady Magic team played pretty bad from what I hear but there were still better than all the other teams there other than the Atl team.
