ELECTIVES...What's the point?

Do you feel electives are a waste of time unless you want to take them?

Aren't electives, by definition, classes you want to take? Yeah, the choices may be limited by what fits in your schedule.

My son's curriculum didn't provide any true electives. Their General Ed required them to choose a couple of classes from every major school, which limited the number of electives they could take from any single school.

I think students get something out of most classes.

Well yeah, I suppose it is by definition but some of the choices for electives are ridiculous and may be the only ones you can take at the time you need an elective class. How in the world can "Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame" be relevant to anything?
