I saw this speech on the news and the commentator was saying that the "Stand your ground" laws were the centerpiece of the Zimmerman trial.... No it was not. The Zimmerman attornies did not use that in their defense and by account of most of the legal pundits could not since he initiated the confrontation. Many newscasters keep bringing up "Stand Your Ground" and are stirring up passions-instead of trying to quell things

Most of the newscasters seem to not reaaly undersand what SYG laws are. They are not an OK to just shoot anyone, but allows for in certain circumstnces for a person that is truly being threatened with mortal danger to take preemptive action. They also generally require that the person be in a position that they could not have avoided the situation.

Franky I find it reprehensible what the AG is doing as the chief law enforcement officer in the country- especially the pandering.

IMO African-Americans have a legitimate mistrust of the legal system, let's face it as a group they have been mistreated by it. Using and exploiting this mistrust and fanning the flames is inexcusable. This was a fair trial and everyone's civil rights were upheld. Sometimes juries come out with verdicts that we may or may not like-welcome to democracy. We follow the rule of law and must accept a jury's decision

The only seat available on the train was directly adjacent to a well dressed middle aged French woman and the seat was being used by her dog. The weary traveler asked, "Ma'am, please move your dog. I need that seat." The French woman looked down her nose at the American, sniffed and said, You Americans. You are such a rude class of people. Can't you see my little FiFi is using that seat?" The American walked away, determined to find a place to rest, but after another trip down to the end of the train, found himself again facing the woman with the dog. Again he asked, "Please, lady. May I sit there?". I'm very tired." The French woman wrinkled her nose and snorted "You Americans! Not only are you rude, you are also arrogant....Imagine!" The American didn't say anything else. Hhe leaned over, picked up the dog, tossed it out the window of the train and sat down in the empty seat. The woman shrieked and railed, and demanded that someone defend her honor and chastise the American. An English man sitting across the aisle spoke up indignantly "You know, sir, you Americans do seem to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You eat holding the fork in the wrong hand. You drive your autos on the wrong side of the road. And now, Sir, you've thrown the wrong bitch out the window."

Don't buy it. I have been mistreated by the police, the legal system, yet I didnt burn things and destroy other peoples property when the most guilt ridden pos on the face of the earth walked free - because all he killed was white people.

It starts first with black punks and Hispanic punks - its completely and totally their fault that racial profiling works and works well. If you see tattoo ridden punks riding around in low riders in the middle of the night - and you stop them and 90% of them are carrying drugs or illegal weapons - then stop all tattoo ridden punks driving around in low riders in the middle of the night. If the punks want this to not work - change their behavior - the majority of their ethic group already live besides and work besides and shop besides and play softball besides my kids and my family.

Racial profiling to catch criminals works - make it not work. The cops cant - the punks can.

Not referring to the punks- frankly all these punks(no matter what race) bring it on themselves. I also do not view it as an excuse to destroy property-usually in their own neighborhoods.

I am referring to friends of mine who are african-american and professionals- clean cut, brooks brothers suits etc that have been stopped several times by police (Driving While Black) They have seen similar things with their families etc- they also share your disdane for these punks. I also can understand why someone who was african-american might have a mistrust of the police and the legal sysetem give some of the history in this country. Knowing that is why I feel it is inexcusable for the AG and the President to feed that distrust for political gain. I truly believe it causes more harm than good.

I work with the same type you work with - guy in the cubicle over from me, 50 years old, dating a dentist, sings opera, - problem with those guys, like main stream moslems, is they do not step up and make loud statements and they don't run off the Sharpton nuts and the Jackson nuts - that has to be done.

That's one. There are exceptions - and Mr. Cosby means absolutely nothing until the majority of them stand up and yell the racists and haters down. Until that happens , nothing changes, except that while the OJ case set race relations back a long time, this case in this day and time have truly set race relations back a very long time.
