I didn't know Spazsdad was a Nazi, I thought he was a Communist as he likes to wear red.

Thanks for the love Charlie. I was reading through this thread and couldn't resist making a guest appearance after almost a year away from the bucket. I was hoping someone would have the heart to put on the gloves with me...but no such luck. Now they're talking about munchkins and oompa loompas and sh*t...so I'm out. Hope you and the family (and all you bucket heads) have a fun 4th.

Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do
I have a perfect puzzle for you
Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me
What do you get when you guzzle down sweets?
Eating as much as an elephant eats
What are you at getting terribly fat?
What do you think will come of that?

I don't like the look of it

Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-da
If you're not greedy, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do

I have another puzzle for you
Oompa Loompa doom-pa-da-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me
Gum chewing's fine when it's once in a while
It stops you from smoking and brightens your smile
But it's repulsive, revolting, and wrong
Chewing and chewing all day long

The way that a cow does

Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-da
Given good manners, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do

Oompa Loompa Song

Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do
I have another puzzle for you
Oompa Loompa doom-pa-da-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me
Who do you blame when your kid is a brat?
Pampered and spoiled like a Siamese cat
Blaming the kids is a lie and a shame
You know exactly who's to blame

The mother and the father

Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-da
If you're not spoiled, then you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do

What do you get from a glut of TV?
A pain in the neck and an IQ of three
Why don't you try simply reading a book?
Or can you just not bear to look?

You'll get no... you'll get no... you'll get no commercials

uno tres wrote:Hey Skarp...Just wondering how many generations it took for your family to make it to that affluent beach community? If you got there in one generation (your generation) and you happen to be an immigrant yourself, well then 'saludos to you amigo'...I take my hat off to you...job well done!! Your family must be proud. But I'm bettin' that it took more than that. Maybe you had parents that could afford to put you through college (or even just offered some help)...or maybe you had a dad or an uncle or a father-in-law that hooked you up with some dream job...or maybe you just were fortunate enough to grow up in this country that offered you 13 years of free education. And as for the 30% minority that lives side by side with you in your affluent beach community (the same ones you welcome with open arms)...I'm betting they've been here a while too.

Oh yeah...you also mentioned that the minorities that live in your affluent beach community are not just your regular old run of the mill minority...but a real special, rare type of minority..ones who "value education, personal achievement and upward mobility"...ummm...Skarp...those are exactly the same reasons that the vast majority of just about every F'n immigrant group (legal, illegal, Mexican or any race) come to this country in the first place. To make a better future for themselves and their loved ones. It might take them some time to make it to that affluent beach community of yours, but they'll get there (but by that time you'll be in Idaho).

One last thing...for any of you that have never seen Spaz before...dude looks like a 100% in the flesh F'n Nazi...so don't take anything he says too seriously.

Let's see. ..where to even start.

First, I am the first in my family to graduate from college, let alone graduate school. I was raised by my working class grandparents from the age of 10 onward, after my siblings and I were removed from my mother's care due to neglect. While I was with my mother I was enrolled in inner-city schools, and pretty much had to fight my way off campus on a daily basis. I never knew my father.

Second, I either paid for or borrowed virtually every penny that my college and graduate degrees cost, and am still paying that debt today.

Third, I certainly didn't know anybody who could or would hook me up with a "dream job"…as if that isn't an oxymoron anyway.

Bottom line: save your excuses for the silver spoon liberals who actually buy them. Sniveling about disadvantages is for losers, and is actually patronizing to the group you are making excuses for.

Not that any of that matters or is remotely relevant to this discussion. In this country it doesn't take generations to become a success. It takes gumption and a certain set of values. With those one can become successful very quickly. Without them, it doesn't matter how many generations you are here. Consider Vietnamese immigrants, who came here from a war-torn country with virtually nothing, but who prioritized education and professional integration. Same with Korean immigrants. How many second-generation Koreans do you know who lack college degrees? How many can't speak proper English? How many are unmarried, pregnant teenagers? There are very few. These groups don't demand special accommodation. They adapt themselves to their new environs.

Contrary to your assertions, the fact of the matter is that among the Hispanic immigrant populations, those who value education and professional integration (i.e., the ones who not only aspire to upward mobility but who also do the things necessary to achieve it) are comparatively rare. Many don't value education, don't obtain college degrees, don't learn to speak the language properly, don't integrate socially or professionally, don't avoid teenage pregnancy, don't avoid gangs, etc. Make all the excuses you want, but the numbers don't lie.

By allowing unchecked immigration by populations lacking basic, success-oriented values, we are guarantying the creation of a permanent underclass which will be a perpetual burden on our societal resources. Why would any sane country allow that?

So yeah…we have a problem with Jose Illegal. You should too. It has nothing to do with racism, and everything to do with common f'ing sense.
