Lake Charles! Been there done that! I'm further Northeast...Crawfish are in season!!!!!!

People ask me, usually Army buddies if I ever go to New Orleans...tell'em no...been there twice...last time my buddy went he saw a Security guard kill a guy trying to shoot one of the patrons of an establishment...Security guy was an off duty NOPD member...thug was seeking patrons valuables...albeit using a chrome 380 as a questioning tool...Cop emptied his Glock on him before he bit the dust (aka piss stained) alley of the French Quarter...he has pictures
Meth heads are like Zombies...
another friend was beaten at a bar by locals, he was in hospital 3 weeks with cracked skull, broken jaw and ribs...
Now not saying everyone in the Big Easy is bad, know some Coonasses I call good friends (most of whom avoid NO like a contagious growth)...
Just saying if you visit Naw 'Leans..be VERY careful where you are, and who is around you and what time you need to be back in your hotel...ask a local where to be and not to be...one you trust...break down in certain parts and its vaya con dios Amigo...

Storm does not feels so bad when you have power (and heat)!

Lowest temp got in parts of the house was 47, mid fifties in most places. Power was down for 24 hours. Scariest thing was the wind- was blowing at 30-40 and there were certainly some gusts in the 60-70 range(shook the house like sandy) Fortunately it did not come at a full moon and we did not see the storm surge or flooding. Large parts of Mass. and RI are still with-out power, but most was restored faster than I thought.. Power companies and local governments appear to be learning from past storms and are doing a better job in preparing.

Thanks for the great news-can't wait!!! Raining now -so all this will be a sheet of ice tonight. No where for water to drain. Still lots of people in and around Providence without power- tough getting warm once you are cold.

Spit my Diet Coke all over my keyboard when I saw this. I always have bread and milk on hand in case of emergencies.
