BW,
You have the "balls" to come on this forum and call members of the military "murderers" and insinuate that our first responders and DA's are mindless robots in search of a paycheck and then get butt-hurt when when you are called out on it? Child is the only word that is suitable.
Each member of the military and the members of our enforcement institutions are required to take an oath to protect and serve. Occasionally one strays from the core values of that oath, after all they are human and imperfect by nature, but the overwelming majority serve with honor and distinction. I know the idea of placing your hand over your heart and pledging your self to something greater is a strange concept to someone who sits at a keyboard all day and troll for hateful shit, but good Americans actually do it...and mean it...and are proud of it...and somewhere across this nation, Americans take an oath like this every day.
But its ok, when you are in need or in danger, you can still call 911 and the cops will still come and protect you, your family and your property and the DA's will prosecute those responsible and seek justice, not just in your name but in the name of the state, and they will do so using the law as a guide line.
Now, as far as your rant is concerned, many members of the government, not just congress, are capable of affecting the level of your beloved freedom. This includes activist judges who interpret or misinterpret laws to law enforcers who pick and choose which statutes to charge violators with in the interest of streamlining the justice process.
The founders never intended for a complete separation of powers but rather a gradual overlapping of them. This is why congress only has the power to declare war but the president is the commander and chief. This is why both the executive branch AND the congressional branch has the power to subpoena, this is why the president can nominate a justice but congress must confirm it. These things should be common knowledge for a "student of history" like you claim to be, but apparently you were absent in history class the day the actually taught history.
Thats ok, I don't mind teaching you. Now remember, congress can declare war, but but the president still has the power to command the military. In 1801, Thomas Jefferson sent the US Navy and Marine Corp to, what is now modern day Libya and authorized the use of violence in the name of the State to capture or kill numerous Barbary Pirates, because they had the nerve to steal American ships, filled with goods made by hardworking Americans and capture and hold for ransom the American sailors who sailed in those ships. They even asked for tribute to prevent further seizures, which was paid for a while, but the pirate constantly reneged on their "treaties". Thank god for those marines who heroically fu%ked up those pirates, because they not only protected the freedoms of all American merchants and seamen, setting an important precedent for years to come, they also gave us a great line for the Marine Corps hymn (i.e. the shores of Tripoli ooh-ra!). This "war" like many to follow over the next two centuries, was never declared or approved by congress but was necessary and meaningful, nevertheless.
Fast forward 200 years, if you are not smart or savvy enough to figure out the relationship between September 11th and the ongoing war in Afghanistan than there is probably little hope for you.
Oh yeah, a far as our constitution goes, it, like you, is far from perfect. You'll remember, after all, you are "student of history", the constitution did not account for, and tacitly approved of the owning of one human being by another and did not give women an equal say in our representative democracy. Oh yeah...you probably forgot that too. The constitution is a living document in constant need of adjustment for ever-changing world.
So anytime you want to come in and spew your hate, I don't mind correcting you.
Like i said before, keep em coming. I brought my lunch
