Each week, TIME Magazine designs covers for four markets: the U.S., Europe, Asia and the South Pacific. Often, America's cover is quite, well – different.

Image
Yes, what you see is TIME devoting its cover in international markets to a critical moment in Egypt's revolution – perhaps the most important global story for that week – while offering Americans the chance to contemplate their collective navels (with a rather banal topic and supposition, to boot).
This is not an isolated incident, for perusing TIME's covers reveals countless examples of the publication tempting the world with critical events, ideas or figures, while dangling before Americans the chance to indulge in trite self-absorption.

Witness these stunning dichotomies:

Viewing these covers, a question must be asked: do these moments of marketing reveal more about Americans, or about the state of American journalism?

Spaz..
WTF are you talking about?

I posted an observation, along with some information about the subject of mainstream media. I posed a question based on that observation. What the F is your problem?

Show me something besides your flapping gums if you would like to add insight.
Otherwise WHY are you even in this thread?

WHat is your point?

Damn widow is your body suit chaffing your sack in this warm summer weather?
WTF am I talking about? Let me splain it to you in Amerikun.
I responded to your post about Time magazine feeding the American populace a diet of trash that is different then the trash they feed the rest of the world. I countered by stating when I looked at past covers the US version was not different in a majority of the instances I viewed. Furthermore there were instances when the US had the same cover as 2 of your other example regions and one other region was odd man out. Your link compiled the instances when the US was different to make your point.
So what is your point?

#1 I don't have a sack and I am quite cool. Thank you.
#2 My post said "countless" not every cover of TIME.
#3 My post was not simply about Time magazine as there were other links enclosed regarding the local news media as well as the print media.
#4 The question I asked was a philosophical one based on those links, the change in TIME cover art and people's general perceptions of the MSM.

LAST: My point is to have a conversation about the things that interest me. Like propaganda techniques and the MSM.
If you think that doesn't exist you are very naive.

You can choose to ignore my posts.

If having a discussion with me is not worth it, why didn't you delete your whole post?

Its always enjoyable to see a knowledgeable politician school a few reporters on their turf.

edit note: original link was to youtube video that went viral - rare for a US Senator. CNBC pulled video from Youtube.

Yes, right after I get done reading Newsweek.
