Interesting that this would cause such a stir ... When my DD's were servers, getting stiffed by customers was fairly common place ... As was people sneaking out with paying .... Sunday was the worst day to work ... You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a church in Lynchburg ... And the after church crowd would routinely leave a little religous pamphlet or a prayer scribbled on a napkin in lieu of money ...
Regarding the 1%, pitiful, but not surprising. I know a couple who refuses to leave tips anywhere because they dont believe the servers get paid $2 per hour or whatever it is. They apparently got this nonsense from the union guys he worked with all his life - along with a lot of other nonsense. The times that I end up at a restaurant with these people, I make sure its a situation where i get the ticket. Its the only way I can not be embarrassed by their actions.
