You watched it without Pay per View but you did not watch it live. It was on the following Saturday on The Wide World of Sports. I remember listening to the fight of the century between Smokin Joe and Mohammed Ali on the radio, it was not even live on the radio there would be recaps every round. I was rooting for Joe, my brother for Ali. Two great fighters, along with George Forman they were the last great era of Boxing. There have been great fighters since, but the sport has not been the same.

Wow, so many memories. Joe was the only guy who could contend with Ali in his prime. What some don't know about is Joe giving Ali money when he needed it. Or that Joe openly took pride in what he considers his contribution to Ali's current condition, to the point of referencing it in his latest cell phone missed call message (as shown by his brother on camera). Sad. But he was a great, great fighter during perhaps the greatest era in heavyweight boxing history.

Agree with you totally, Smokey the Squirrel. Nothing I enjoyed better than seeing Cassius Clay get beat. Like Joe said when they asked him, what does he want to be remembered as , his answer "A man." nuff said.
