IMO there's a difference between a dad coach and a "daddy baller".
Dad Coach...Treats players equally
Daddy Baller - Plays favorites with dd and the girls she played with since rec....or is a major harda$$ with his dd while cutting the others some slack
Dad Coach....Even if he didn't play (which he probably played baseball) realizes that he doesn't know everything and studies his butt off, attends clinics, and is always trying to improve himself as a coach.
Daddy Baller....Relies on his own little league of intramural experience to coach the team and refuses to accept the fact that he is not the omniscient God of all things softball
Dad Coach....looks for the potential in every player and tries to play them in the positions that will most benefit them and the team as much as possible. Tries to avoid stereotypes and gives players the opportunity to prove themselves.
Daddy Baller....dd plays favorite position in virtually every game... period... regardless of skill level. Although he's a poor judge of talent is known to make snap judgements on talent and ability based on stereotypes and not change them....ever.
Coach Dad....Has good communication, organization, and is respectful to parents, players, and coaches, as well as opposing teams
Daddy Baller....Rarely has a set practice time, sporadic or unclear in communicating, essentially runs a dictatorship...I know all!!!
We've been on teams with both, and there is definitely a difference.
Anyone else want to add to the list? Game management, equipment, drills, etc...
