Whats up with the second year 14u teams

by fstptchbtch » Wed Aug 19, 2009 5:00 pm

Kruzers Coach Gone!

Travelers move up then break up

Glory(Adkins) Is watered down.Lost all pitchers from last year and there only real catcher is hurt. They only have 3 or 4 B class players returning.

Glory(Poole) Well it still says Poole enough said.

D-Bat(Chambers)Have tryout and only 12-15 B-players show up!

Looks like the top first year 14u teams are gonna be better than the 2nd year 14u teams.

the problem is that there is no such thing as a second year 14u team...by the time you make it that far all the good talent is sucked up to the promises of college looks...don't count out the kruzer's they made some positive changes and wait till you see their pitching

Who the heck knows :o It seems to be a freakin' mess out there right now. I just heard that the former SK Velocity has packed it in, sorta kinda, maybe.

I can't beleive the 95's that are "going for the gold". By and large they were good 1st yr 14U's last spring, but ready to compete at 18U gold?

Can it be worth it?

I don't know Spaz. From what I have been seeing most talented second year 14Us in California move up to 16U or even 18U. Look at the rosters of some of the good 18U and 18U gold teams. Many are carrying as many a (5) second year 14U girls. Many of the 16U teams are full of 14U girls. Heck alot of the Southern California coaches posting for 96 girls on this site, are saying they plan on doing one year in 14U and moving the team up to 16U.
To each their own.

I think the teams to beat in HOUSTON this year are:

TPS; They return all kids and picked up some more talent from what I heard. But they will be the top dog in Houston.

TEXAS KAOS; They also will be returning all their kids, very fast. Already qulified for nationals after going undefeated in FT. Worth.

HOUSTON POWER; They lost a few players but replaced them with some good talent. Seven or eight players from last years team still on the roster including two of the three pitchers.

PEARLAND PHANTOMS; They were a scrappy team don't know who they lost or picked up but don't sleep on this team. Seen this team moving up to 16 then back down to 14/16 so don't know what direction they are headed.

I think its safe to say if your trying to play the best these are the ones you go after first. IMO

Don't know how you can ignore the Storm Elite with their 55+ player tryout or Texas Sting with their 47+ player tryout, seems like you ought to be able to field a good team if you get this kind of turnout.

fpf, I believe the subject title reads "second year 14u teams". The answer to that question is that second year 14u kids are in high school sports and are looking at 18u after that.

Storm Elite screwed did not do their homework. They will be a decent team at best and will not be an every weekend contender unless they avoid the competition. Coach will have to cut 4-5 players if they have any expectation of competing for a trip to nats in 2010.

Teams to watch in 14u this Fall that have all made improvements to an already great program
Sudden Impact (aka Peppers)
Texas Aces
Fort Bend Thunder
Texas Fury

Teams that had a good showing at tryouts and may cause and be a surprise
Texas Sting
Batbusters
Storm Elite

Daddy ballers that appear to be on their last hoorah
Texas Lite (Ice)
Texas Kaos

Some things never change.

I thought Kaos would return a big part of their team since they did so well at Nats but it appears that they have lost a large number of players to other teams listed above.

I expect 97 Red Hots will be competing against these teams and cause some havoc as well.

How many did Sudden Impact (Peppers) return from last year? Did they stay pretty much intact?

Hah, a typically skewed response asmackdaddy.

Don't feel bitter, about not making the Storm Elite. There are plenty that didn't make it, though from what little I have heard on who they picked up there were a few Original Peppers on the list.

The Aces should be in the "may be a surprise" group. There performance at Nats sure was a surprise, guess staying out of big tournaments in Texas isn't the way to prep for Nats after all.

Was looking over at eteamz for try-outs and noticed that the Sudden Impact aka Old Peppers are still putting up fresh post for tryouts. Guess they didn't make as many Great additions as asmack would have us all believe.
