Central TX Pitching Instructors?

by CalliesMom » Fri Jun 19, 2009 7:24 am

14 y/o DD interested in finding someone other than her dad to yell at her about her pitching. ;) Would be very grateful for a listing of pitching instructors in the Central Texas area who y'all would recommend. She's not a beginner, but has been dad coached. We love the financial plus to this arrangement, but I'm not sure I'm getting my money's worth with all of the rogaine I'm having to purchase to regrow my husband's hair. TIA!

Ron Holt gives instruction out of Liberty Hill. He is very good.

Dennis Moe give instruction out of Round Rock 3 days a week. My daughter takes lessons form him. He is a very good instructor that has very resonable rates.

PM me and I will give you there contact information.

There's something about NCAA eligibity there though I think she can only work with girls through 8th grade

Amanda Scarborough Pitching Lessons 6/6/2009
Hi! This is Amanda Scarborough. I'm going to be here in College Station for the summer and I am looking to give pitching lessons here locally. There are some NCAA that would prohibit me from working with girls that are older than 8th grade after the fall semester starts in September. However, for this summer, I am available to girls of all ages. I am only going to be doing this 2 or 3 days a week, but I am looking for some pitchers to fill up my limited spots. Please email me if you are interested. If you and a friend would like to come at the same time, that'd be great as well, up to 3 girls at one time is acceptable. If you can't find someone to come with you, I'm sure we can work something out. Looking to work with girls on the mental and physical edge of pitching.

Thanks for the responses! I also had someone mention the coach from Bowie High School in Austin, as well as a coach at St. Edward's University. Anyone have any feedback on these ladies?

The pitchers from Bowie (at least two of them including standout Blair Luna) get lessons from Andy Cantu. Blair is a Texas signee who plays for the Texas Blaze Gold in summer and has been going to Andy for years. Andy is located in far south Austin and can be contacted by email at acantutax@austin.rr.com

Andy has a long history of both playing adult fastpitch and coaching softball with Texas back in the early days of their program.

Good luck!
