Once again Mr I love the Freeze even if they don't go to Nationals, Don't play in the Ronald McDonald and Don't ever beat any team that is margianlly good is trying to start crap without knowing what he is talking about.

FYI, Jonathan Lampl the TD for the Ronald McDonald did not let all the 95 teams that wanted to play in the 14U play in that division. Some teams were told there was a long waiting list in the 14U division and if you want to play you can only get into the 12U. There are 93 teams in 14U for the same reason. This puts your team in a tough situation. If you don't play you will have a hard time getting in next year and the years after when your girls need to be seen and recruited. If you do play some idiot like YPLAYAWHENYOUCANSTARTSHIT will assume you are trophie hunting. I can assure you it means nothing to a college coach that you won the 12U Ronald McDonald, but if you build a relationship with the TD and you get your girls entered in the 16U and 18U your gilrs will be able to play in a strong division in front of many college coaches and your girls may get their education paid for because you decided to play in the 12U division.

Any team that is playing in the 12U and 14U for any other reason than to get their foot in the door so their players can be recruited is not thinking straight. There is a bigger picture than who gets a prize in 12U.

I don't expect someone like WHYPLAY to understand. He has proven himself to be an idiot on numerous occasions on this board. As for softballjunkie Now you Know.

12udad speaks the truth. When we were a second year 12 last year moving up to 14 we were not allowed to play in the 14U division for the same reason. The TD has relationships with local teams that also spend money on his uniform business. It stands to reason that they will have first shot at playing up. If you read the rules it says no team will be allowed to play up but that doesn't hold water by looking at the approved teams. The bottom line is this tournament is recognized as one of the best recruiting tournamnets and if you want to play you will play by his rules and if you are from out of town you will stay in the hotels he tells you to. If you are worried about who is in your division this is not the tournament for you.

Definately a reason you see the good organizations continue to play in the RM tournament. It is a tournament that usually draws the better teams and at the same time as you get older you get the exposure to college coaches.

If your daughters team is good enough and makes a good showing at nationals, then you will be fine when 18U rolls around. Does not matter if you played 12U or 14U.

If you think that playing in a tournament for 3-5 years in a row doesn't bulid a relationship you may be the 1st years coach your talking about. My oldest played the Fireworks and RMD and preference was always given to teams that had a relationship with the TD. On the entry form it asks how many years you have played in this tournament for a reason. Ask the teams on the waiting list that did not get in. There are some better teams not playing because they don't have the relationship. I agree that money is a big part and the more money you have spent and the more money you will continue to spend comes into play with many TD's.

As for excuses , NONE ARE BEING MADE just the facts. We and a few other coaches I spoke to who are not in the loop signed up for a older divisions and did not get in even though some younger teams did (RELATIONSHIPS) so we decided to play in the division the TD said we could get into. As for Trophie hunting we are allowing some of our 2nd year girls to play with other older teams and we are picking up some younger girls so they can get the experience and we can start building a relationship like the bigger organizations already have.

Everything is about money!!! That being said if you are completely unknown to a TD and there is another team that he/she has dealt with. Then the latter will most likely make there tournament.
The RM is a well run tournament regardless of age group. Im sure Jonathan would love for everyone to spend money at his store or booth, but he has been involved with SKGSL and the RM for years. He has done nothing but support girls softball in our area!!
