Texas 2012 Preseason Softball Poll

by fastpitchforever » Wed Jan 11, 2012 9:04 am

I've heard TGCA has sent out the 2012 preseason poll results but it is not posted on their site. Does anyone have access to the poll results that they can post here?

Can't believe that not one school from 5-5A made the list even for HM. MHS only lost to Plano by 1 run last year in the playoffs. So we know they are decent. Legacy will have 2 D1 pitchers on staff. Guess we will see how the result compare to the pre season polls.

What sense does that make? Plano took 3rd or 4th in state, have all their key players returning, but are ranked 12th????? What happened did their coach quit?

Just curious.

now now pounder................like you said District 5-5A is the little sista.....................let the play speak for itself. Yo MHS and Legacy will have plenty of chances to show there D1 stuff this season. Hopefully they will get to play some meaningfull competition to make the ranks.

Butch Hart says on the website, he cannot possible follow every high school in Texas so he factors last year's placement, coach comments, other sources such as reporters and rankings. Teams are likely to be under placed if they have players he does not know about or overplaced if there are departures or injuries. I am sure he does not know how many D1 players your team has unless a local newspaper writes about it. I love having a poll because it gives us something to talk about. Brings attention to the sport. Budget cuts undoubtedly will affect team travel and there are many teams that cut their teeth on tough schedules in preseason to come together. They may have a much different experience this year.
